Hey guys. What is the general consensus concerning storing tubos in your humidor? A friend gave me some La Aurora Preferidos Equador No. 2’ tubos. I’ve read articles where some say take the sticks out of the tube, others say leave it in, while others say leave them in but remove the cap. I’d love to get your input.

Personal preference. I've seen nearly equal proponents of all three.
I enjoy using them to have one ready to go in my pocket, but I store them out, or cap off. Personally they seem not to taste as good to me aged in them capped. Nacho Daddy prefers the opposite.
One exception I've heard is to absolutely take them out if they don't have a cedar sleeve..
Probably worth performing an experiment over the next couple of years to see what you prefer.

I’m not a tubo fan but if I get one I leave it as is until ready to smoke. If I have the option to buy tubo or not I’ll always pick no tubo.

If you take them out or store them with the caps off, there is no point in paying the premium for having the tubos, unless you’re planning on doing something weird with the tubes.
For NCs, which you are most likely not going to age long term, they’re almost completely useless.
For CCs, to get the best benefit from them, you’re going to want to age them in the tubes for much longer than for cigars not in tubes.
Just my opinion, which may also be completely useless.

Thanks guys. I know this has probably been discusses ad nauseam and I appreciate your input. I like to get my info from everyday guys like myself rather than some of the bloggers and “experts” who quite often are slightly biased or monetarily influenced or have an agenda.

Good question, I too have pondered this. If tubes caused irreversible problems why would companies use them? Also, aren't most cigars aged 6 months or much longer before even leaving manufacturer? How is it different in your humidor in a Tubos for a year vs a BM humidor?

In some B&M's a tube might actually protect it from mold, lol

At this point I always at least remove the cap. I've had way too many tubes over the years get a little mold. Even some of the wood coffins are suspect. YMMV however, in the 20 plus years I've smoked these have been some issues for me.

Good tread, I haven’t even thought about it. I just always threw them in my humidor without thought. Gonna double check for mold tomorrow just in case.
