My son was denied entry to the Marines today for a C&I ticket he recieved in Dec 08. He told his recruiter who told his boss and everything was to be ok but alas it was not. A pencil pusher at the MEPS center held Jared up until he missed the flight but he is now cleared and able to join just not today. He is now home with us for a while longer probably 3-4 months.

This has made us all run through the full range of emotions again today and I guess for the next few weeks and/or months we won't know when his last day with us will be. He is crushed but still ready to serve. His recruiter is trying to get a new date set but told us to expect the kiss & go, meaning he will be on call for any available spot. He will get a call and have 12-24 hrs to report the MEPS center in KC.

I can't believe this BS but what cha gonna do?:cursing: He is a good young man and I wish I could do something, anything to help. I glad, I'm sad, I'm mad, hell I don't know what I am at this point:wtf:

Sorry to hear about the roller coaster you are on right now. Seems like you were ready to let him go and now have to go through all those emotions again.

As a veteran myself, I salute you for you, your family, and your son's service. I wish him nothing but a positive life changing experiences in the future.

Bureaucracy can be a pain, but it sounds like it's gonna work out.

Tell your son I'm proud that he's going to serve our country; I'm thankful we have men like him.

What is C&I
Careless and Imprudent driving. A bunch of teenagers were racing on an old hiway, the police showed up and everyone scattered. Jared in his 1987 Chevy 4x4 was an easy mark, they easily caught him (the only one caught) and arrested him for Speeding, Failure to Stop for an Emergency Vehicle and C&I. The judge offered him 2 nights in jail and the C&I charge all misdemeanors which would not effect his enlistment, this was OKed by his recruiter and the next in command. It should not have been a problem and isn't now but was just long enough for him not to get to go today with his friend.

The Failure to Stop for an Emergency Vehicle and C&I can be felonies since he had a passenger.
