USPS delivery on Sunday??

I was watching football this afternoon and I heard the sound of the USPS truck pulling up to my mailbox. Just like Pavlov's dog I have a conditioned response to that particular sound and know when the mail gets here. But then I had to go to the window and make sure since it is Sunday and there's absolutely NO way that I should be getting a package today. Sure enough...There's the USPS lady putting a package in my mailbox!

I'm guessing that they're just trying to stay ahead of the game with Christmas coming but it sure took me by surprise. Has anyone else ever had this happen or even heard of this??

I got sunday deliveries last week and today. Last week it was amazon, and I know they have a special deal with usps to deliver sunday. This week is was some old Navy clothes for the kids.

The U.S. Postal Service will be in high gear this holiday season, announcing Thursday that it will deliver packages seven days a week in major cities and high-volume areas.

The Postal Service said it was expecting double-digit package volume growth this season. Sunday deliveries will begin Nov. 17 and continue until Christmas Day. During that time, the Postal Service anticipates 12% growth in package delivery – anywhere from 450 to 470 million packages.

“The Postal Service will be out making deliveries every single day during the holiday season, including Christmas Day,” Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe said. “During the holidays, no carrier makes more deliveries to more places than the Postal Service, and this year, we’re raising the bar with enhanced tracking and Sunday delivery.”

I've had both UPS & USPS deliver on Sunday in the last few weeks.

Yea I had this happen too and I asked the postman what was going on. He said they were just delivering priority mail and amazon packages. At least this was the case for my area.

Sounds good, I think they really need that because packages are going slow with the service, imagine if they weren't cramming in this extra day.

USPS stepping up their game. I strictly use them for my business and I must say they have been amazing. A lot of people knock their service but all my packages have been delivered on time and in tact...can't say that about UPS.
