I was made aware of this off of a hunting/firearms forum I frequent. Tobacco and Hunting/Gun Ownership are both taking their lumps now more than ever, these days. I'm afraid that the above is a terrifying step in the WRONG direction.

FWIW, this shop will ship to other states and their selection is pretty extensive right now. They're running 20% off any box purchase right now.

Gary's number is (801) 322-2817 - Jeanie's Smoke Shop.

(Apologies if this is a double post.)

Ahh Squatters....loved the chocolate stout.

I bought my very first box of cigars at Jeanie's in the spring of 1992. A box of Partagas. I was 18, hundreds of miles from my parents, fit, had two different female friends with benefits, had a fake ID, and a box of cigars. I thought I owned world.

Very sad, but Utah is Utah. Nobody is gonna change it!

Wow ... that story made me squirm in my seat. Based on the positive comments at the end of the story from people who frequented Jeanie's, the 2 generations of owners have enriched the lives of many, many people since 1940.

Taxation has never enriched a life; but only spawned more of its species. Why shouldn't the agents of government be required to earn their incomes? Same as the people for which they are supposed to exist?

If governments were free market institutions, many would go out of business. Anyone still think a U.S. Savings Bond is a solid investment?

I like how they have 44 million built into the budget. Granted most of the money will come from cigarette retailers/distributors however unless you're a distributor retailers don't keep much $$ of inventory in the store. Cigarettes are weekly/biweekly deliveries as far as I know. So when they come up short on the projected 44 million because they never thing that people will just close up shop and not pay taxes then what will be taxed to make up for the lost revenue?
