I found out this morning that my friend and his wife had the feeding tube and life support removed from their 14 month old son and he passed away around 9 am.

A terrible accident two weeks ago left him without oxygen for an extended period of time and he was in a persistant vegatative state. A couple days ago his lungs started filling up with fluid and they decided they didn't want him to suffer. A very hard choice to make and one that I hope I never have to make!

It's gonna be hard next week to see a tiny coffin at the wake and funeral.

Although we`ll never meet, I extend my deepest condolences to them. What a terrible tragedy.

The passage of time will never fully heal their grief, but hopefully it will make it more bearable. Like all of their friends and neighbors who are now with them and undoubtedly trying to ease their sorrow, from a distance I extend my hand of friendship and wish them relief from their pain.

May they be strong, and God speed to their son.

Our prayers are with them as our family has gone through this twice and it's rough on everyone.

Next to spreading my dad's ashes, the hardest thing I've ever had to see was a good friends baby being laid to rest. Your comment on the tiny coffin hits home for me, as that was the hardest part of the whole ordeal for me. Such a sad set of circumstances. I truly am sorry to hear of such a terrible situation.

I couldn't possibly imagine what they're going through. My good friends had to deal with the same thing about 6 months ago. Prayers sent.

This post is making me well up in tears. This is a parent's worst nightmare. I have a 6 month year old son and I couldn't imagine having to go through that.

Condolences to all those involved. Give your children and big hug tonight and tell them you love them. They are our most precious resource and the future.
