Wouldn't you like to know?
I had a kinda shitty day so I dug deep into my humidor for something to brighten the day with. Came out with a crusty old Dunhill Atados. Today was not my first experience with this cigar which is a lot of the reason for this thread. Last time I smoked one I had wondered if they past their prime. There was still a little spice left to it and some decent flavours but no wow factor I was expecting. Today I as I smoke I think I have figured out my mistake last time. As much as I enjoy smoking with others sometimes cigars like this require a little more solitude and less competing smoke to really enjoy. The last one was smoked at a wake for a good friend who died in a plane crash. Today sitting in my car and smoking by myself this is one of the top 10 smokes I have ever had. Now back to my real complaint. The worst part about vintage smokes is never having enough of them to be sure that you smoked it at the perfect time to be sure that you got the most out of it.

I agree totally about other smoke interferring with your enjoyment. By the way, did you buy those Don Candidos? :eyebrow:

Absolutely. I've also noticed smoking cigars like these is better suited to indoor environments (i.e. no wind) so you can really capture the essence of the smoke.

I have a couple of Monte Especiales from 1981 that are awaiting ideal smoking conditions.

Honestly, I've found this to be the case with any cigar, at least for me.

Glad you had a great experience to brighten your day.
