I was handed this stick about six months at El Humidor, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. I was on my way out and didn't catch any particulars, other than it was something being worked on and the working name was Insurrection. It was very fresh so I put it away for awhile, deciding that yesterday was the perfect time to light it up.

I would speculate the cigar is 6x52. It had a good amount of give when squeezed and is cloaked in an extremely dark wrapper with some prominent veins, reminiscent of a LFD maduro wrapper. It had a small amount of oil, which speckled in the sunlight. It wasn't the most evenly rolled cigar -- or the prettiest -- but that only made the cigar look all the more menacing. Its aesthetics alone make you think, "This is going to be strong."

Right into the first few puffs I'm assaulted by a blast of pepper... off to a good start. The pepper dissipates after a few puffs and the flavors brought forth are a sweet tobacco, accompanied by leather and chocolate. It's delicious. It's very full-flavored; the smoke coats your entire palate like a thick syrup allowing you to enjoy every flavor in between puffs. The draw is spot-on, not too loose, not too tight. I was concerned the burn would be erratic considering the dark and oily wrapper, but it was razor sharp.

From start to finish the cigar is delicious. It's filled with sweet tobacco, pepper, chocolate, and leather. The flavors go together to create a powerful and tasty cigar. While not the most complex, what the cigar does, it does right.

I certainly hope this is one blend that Viva la Republica decides to produce. Next time I'm at El Humidor, I'll be begging for another.

Yes sir, me and Jason will be there. Federal will be one of the first accounts in the country to be getting their hands on Rapture Maduro and the Guerrilla Warfare. Both will be in stock for the event.
