Background:
I am about to purchase my first wineador (yay me? woe is me?) because my place gets way too hot in the summer months & I want to avoid running the A/C when I'm out of the house.
Looking at the Newair 281E. Will eventually add some cedar drawers and shelves from either Chas or Forrest. For now, I just need some cedar and a good wipe down.
Last night I spoke to a guy with an Edgestar wineador who says he switched from Heartfelt to a Xikar gel system because his beads were getting yellow and imparting an unpleasant odor to his cigars, kind of sweet and dank. He now swears by the Xikar jars and solution.
I have read on forums about the beads yellowing, and the odor. Does that just happen, or is there something those people are doing wrong?
Also, is the Xikar system comparably priced over time to maintain it?
And what's all this I hear about kitty litter?
I'm just a poor Brother with a 90ct desktop and Boveda packs, looking to put on my big boy pants. Help?
