While I concur, it should be an adults only environment (who wants to smoke with kids...:smokingbo). However, to state that humidors not be self-serve is ridiculous.

I agree, I'm not sure why they would want kids in the store at all anyway. Making it 18+ seems like a good idea. I just hate the association of "adults only."

Queue the boom-chicka-wa-wa music...

Yes,
Odd laws in MA that were passed.

No person can go into a humidor or select cigars from a humidor without a representative of the business with them or witnessing the transaction of cigar to customer.
(or there abouts)...

Julios in Westboro got in trouble for this similar thing.

But they also talk about smoking & smoking locations.
(You cannot smoke in Julios.)

This place used to be my hangout when I lived in Framingham...it was only a couple of miles down the street on Route 9. I knew the owner very well and he got out of there in early 2003 and retired to Florida. That place has been targeted since I lived there in 1998-2003....the city gov't had a real hard on for the place and did everything they could to give them grief...looks like they succeeded.

Time's were different when I was a kid. We would hang out with gramps dinking coke and eating cookies while he sampled the pipe tobacco with other grown-ups. It's actually a cool memory to have.
I personally don't get this.

In Virginia we have State run Liquor stores, and you have to be 21 to go in, so I don't see this being a problem really. While I loved going to the cigar shop with my Dad when I was a little kid (the smell or the humidor, and the cigar smoke... fabulous!), if this is what it is going to take to preserve the ability to pick singles out of a box myself, so be it.

I like being in an adults only environment but even with my porn associations I'd prefer to not be labeled in a cigar smoker's environment. When people find out what I do for a living that label already gets applied to me and it's "half" true. Sort of.

Rich from Los Gatos cigar club summed it up best in an interview I'll release soon: "Once you come in our doors, you're a cigar smoker." I thought that was pretty cool. And honorable of him.

Ban the selling of T-shirts with cigars on them? Where the hell is the ACLU on that one, talk about a definite 1st Amendment issue.
