My wife and I just booked our trip to HI this morning. We leave on the 23rd and return on the 31st. It's going to be interesting to spend XMas over there. A couple years back we spent Thanksgiving and had a blast while staying at Turtle Bay. This year we will be staying at the same place. I love driving up on the North Shore and visiting Hale Iwa. It's going to be interesting to see how big the waves are this year. I heard they were at around 40-50 feet two weeks ago. I guess I need to contact Uncle Bryan for surf lessons.. Can't wait... :santa2:

Oahu is nice ... but I prefer the slower pace of the Big Island and Kauai. Maui is also cool for the surf and sites.

Have a great time!

What a great way to spend the Holidays! Have been to Turtle Bay a few times and it's nice to be on that side of the island away from the downtown area in Waikiki. I love the islands and have been there many times courtesy of Westin Hotels and Marriott. If you have time visit Ko'Olina by Marriott over near Pearl Harbor,,,,amazing property as we have stayed there as well.

I'm definitely jealous! I lived on Oahu for a few years and loved it... people don't give Oahu enough credit as they pretty much only think of Waikiki and being so busy.

If you haven't been and you like beaches, you should drive to Kailua and go to the end of the road at Lanikai Beach. It's usually not so crowded because not a lot of people know about it, is an amazing beach, has an awesome view of a couple small islands right offshore, beautiful water and it's fun watching the kite surfers if there is any wind.

I love the North Shore... have fun, and eat lots of Poke!

Thanks you all, I will take your advice AS. It's always a plus to get some input from people that know good places to hang out at. Our trip is primarily for relaxation and one last hoorah before we have our baby in July.
