As long as the number of free cards remains the same it is a good thing from a fans perspective. The fighters in the WEC will now get 10 times more exposure which means more sponsorships and much higher pay. Its also good for the UFC for the same sponsorship reasons, the UFC brand will bring in more sponsorship money than the WEC brand can even if they are both owned by the same parent company. Networks showing the now UFC cards are also going to have to pay more for them compared to when they were WEC cards as well more than likely.

The only downside is for the mid to lower level LW's in the WEC. The UFC already has a very deep talent pool at LW so the WEC LW's are going to have to earn it if they want to stick around. I think before 2011 is out probably 90% of the WEC LW's will have been released from their contracts. They unfortunatly just dont stack up to the UFC's LW's, thats why they are in the WEC.

4 on Spike and 4 on Versus, plus the fighters get paid more which is good for them. They'll start them off as co-main on PPV events, main events on free cards as they have been for the WEC.
Jose Aldo is fighting Co-main at UFC 125 on Jan 1st . The winner of Henderson vs Petis on the last WEC card in December will fight the winner of Edgar vs Maynard to unify the titles.

(something tells me you did not read the article)
no, but you'll be able to watch UFC on Versus
Sorry, I had a bit of a brainfart when typing that out.

"As a result, that was nine shows, which will be cut to four under the new deal."

I wont be able to watch as much for free now.

sounds great in theroy, my problem is that now one promotion is in control of so much top talent. Now Dana White is no idiot so hopefully he wont ignore the bantam and featherweight division which give the fans so many great fights. good to hear that flyweight is coming down the line.

Zuffa already owned WEC... in essence they had made WEC the minor league to the UFC... I think it'll be good, if its handled right... some of the best fights I've seen are the bantam and featherweight divisions... those guys just love banging...I think it'll be good and make the cards much better... theoretically they could have at least 1 title fight every month and make the cards more worthwhile ordering ;) Besides now the UFC gets the Versus contract and can hauck their wares on there :)

I actually enjoy watching the light weight guys fight. Most of their fights are entertaining as they are scrappy fighters who get down to fighting.

I think its great we'll get to see some fights we otherwise never would have in the WEC. I'm gearing up for Faber vs. Torres that one should be a cracker!! It also eases the path for Aldo to move up the weight classes once he's finished with the feather weights.. wouldn't have made sense to push him as a light weight in the WEC he would've run through the division much he like he has in the FW class this way we get to see him go up against Penn, Edgar, Maynard, Florian, Sanchez and possibly GSP.
