Since I now have a nice collection of many different sticks to try, I always measure the length and ring gauge before lighting up. I slide the band off when it loosens up enough to do so and eventually I do some research on what I've smoked. I've found a couple of times now that my measurements don't jive with the offerings/reviews I see online. For example, I had a My Father La Reloba Seleccion Mexico on the weekend. I measured the stick to be 6" long and a RG of 42.

I use this to help me out, but maybe I should double check the scale on the printed paper. Anyway, how close are these things to what you find online for sizing? I realize many are handmade, so it may vary.

The Corona is listed as 5.6" and 46, so I'm thinking that's what I had the pleasure to enjoy on Sunday afternoon. :smokingbo

EDIT: the chart linked above is an image and has to be scaled properly, which I didn't do. I found a more consistent chart, in PDF format. You can find it here. I also mention this further down in this thread, but thought a shortcut here is appropriate

Ring gauges will fluctuate depending on what the stick has gone through, and the amount of humidity. But, generally the length is quite accurate, down to the 1/4 in, or I've seen down to the 1/16th. Sometimes you will lose fractions of an inch in length if under humidified, but never a half inch.

I would say you enjoyed a different cigar if you were accurate on your measurement of 6".

Bah... just figured it out. My cheat sheet isn't scaled right so all my measurements have been a big ol' pile of poo. That was dumb. :frown:. Oh well.... as you were!

Just for consistency, I changed to a different sizing chart. This printable cigar size chart is in a PDF file, so it will print the same on all printers without worrying about scaling an image correctly. You can find it here. The main site is here
