What is bombing?

Hey there folks. So, I've been talking with another member on here via PM. Just talking about general stuff, and we got to talking about some of our favorite cigars. He made mention of some cigars that he had interest in. Well, from all of my communication with this guy he seemed pretty darn cool and I decided that since I had some cigars I know he'd like to try I'd send a bomb his way.

Unfortunately, when I checked his profile there was no address listed. I shot him another PM telling him that it's difficult to bomb someone when they don't have their mailing address listed. To my surprise, this BOTL is totally unfamiliar with the term "bomb" in this context.

This of course leaves me in the unfortunate position of feeling like an uber internet creeper. I did a quick search to see if bombing is explicitly explained on here and didn't come up with anything quickly.

My hope for this post is to have some veteran BOTL chime in and explain the whole bombing process so that I can ratchet my creepiness factor down a couple notches. lol.

There's a sticky in the Bomber's Basement, it reads:

"A bomb is a package delivered to a brother that is typically filled with cigars and/or other cigar-related items.
Bombs are generally sent as a random act of kindness or targeted payback. A return bomb is optional but not expected.

The numbers labeled as xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx are USPS Delivery Confirmation Numbers.
It's used as a heads up warning or taunt and final confirmation that a brother's mailbox has been hit."

As for the address...if he won't give it up I bet there's a brother who has it that's willing to throw him under the bus :grin:.

Here is a recent example I heard of...

It's when you ask, "how do I lable my cigars"? And some guy comes in a says "I have some. Give me you address and I'll send them to you." A week later, you come home and there is a smoldering hole where your mailbox used to be. Upon closer inspection there is a small box in the bottom of said hole. You're thinking to yourself, "I didn't order anything, and I do not recognize the name on the return address." You open it only to find more than you expected, when some guy on the internet said, he would send you some lables.

Thanks for that quote. I didn't realize that there was another section about bombing. I can't see it yet. I had been here a couple weeks before I found out that there was a selling and trading area too. lol.

Unfortunately, this BOTL has declined any offer so far. I suppose I may have to keep my eyes open and see if there's anyone else around that I can set my sights on.

:stretchgr I think I heard about this incident too. It was hearing about it that actually pushed me over the edge and gave me the urge to bomb someone. lol.
