I kind of like the historic quotes. Here are two that humor me:

I have seen many a man turn his gold into smoke, but you are the first who has turned smoke into gold.
- Queen Elizabeth I, Queen of England. (1533-1603), Speaking to Sir Walter Raleigh who brought the tobacco plant to England from America.

Only Satan can grant man the faculty of expelling smoke through the mouth.
- the Spanish Inquisition when imprisoning Rodrigo de Jerez, one of Columbus’s sailors, and the first person to bring tobacco to Europe.

The following is more recent - and speaks to a... well, it speaks to a mindset lol.

The difference between a man and his valet: they both smoke the same cigars, but only one pays for them.
- Robert Frost

Great thread! Mark Twain is credited with a bunch, one of my favorites, "I smoke in moderation. Only one cigar at a time." He also gets credit for a pretty good one about buying expensive cigars, but I can't seem to recall how it goes. Something about how he went from ten cents to twenty-five cents per barrel. I'll have to track that one down again.

Looks like my prices were a bit off, but I think I found what I was thinking for, "Sixty years ago they cost me four dollars a barrel, but my taste has improved, latterly, and I pay seven now. Six or seven. Seven, I think. Yes, it’s seven. But that includes the barrel." This was from his speech at his 70th birthday, pretty good read.

Mark Twain has an essay called "concerning tobacco" I did for a speech class that points to how people are sometimes more in love with the name rather than the actual cigar great story check it out

"I often get asked by noobs if I really taste that much flavor in a cigar. I can see how people would be skeptical, but the fact is that some passing notes are there for just one precious puff. If you’re not paying attention, you’ll miss it. If you catch it, you’ll be reminded that you’re enjoying all the complexity that Earth has to offer." ~ Brian Gildea.

I really wanted this quote as my sig but its too long... this is my favorite(maybe i'll shorten it)

"A fine cigar is like a fine woman. They come in all shapes and sizes. Treat them tenderly and lovingly. Caress their skin, admire their beauty, fondle them with reverence. Bring them slowly to your lips, enjoy their flavor, their aroma. Contemplate their essence, their dependability, and forgive them their weaknesses - if there be any. Revel in the rituals, their simplicity and their enduring meanings. Do these things, my son, and the blessings of life shall always be upon you." -Prince Sined Yar Maharg
