Feel free to tell us what in this life is important to you..issues, ideas, causes, places, your work....whatever.

I think gaining a greater understanding and compassion for my fellow humans is probably almost at the top for me. I have done this by educating myself, traveling to other countries, and trying to understand and embrace my own culture, and give someone of another culture the same respect that I'd expect given to me and mine.

I include with this people from my own country who have different backgrounds and experiences as well. For example, I have never fired a gun and killed an animal, so I don't pretend to know what that is like. It's a personal choice, I have opinions about game hunting, but I won't tell you that your experience is invalid, null and void, or offensive to me and therefore you have no right to do it. I have not had to go into the woods and shoot my dinner. I"ve been lucky to have always had enough food to eat.
I have my opinions on religion and spirituality, but would never tell a person that my beliefs are superior or more correct, moral or better than his/hers. I try tokeep my private thoughts to myself.

Part of this too is opening my mind and allowing others to express their thoughts and opinions and trying to understand where they are coming from, given their unique experiences and history.

I've been told that I need to put myself first, so I guess that's up there, taking care of me, mind, body and spirit.

I'm interested in the political situation in THIS country...One of the things this nation was founded on was the notion of self-determination. What happens in other countries is their affair, except of course if it has some direct impact on something related to the daily lives and security of Americans. Or if we as a nation or or policies, have had some sort of effect on the current situation...ie: the over-throw of the elected head of the Iranian democracy in the 1950's that led to the installation of the Shah, and ultimately, the isalmic revolution of the late 1970's and the hostage crisis etc...Or the American backed overthrow and assasination of the Chilean President Allende in 1973 that put the fascist dictator Pinochet in power.

And of course, I think that we as a nation should provide humanitarian aid when necessary(Tsunami, Pakistan earthquake, African famines)when it is appropriate and the right thing to do..I think as the world's wealthiest nation, we have a responsiblity that comes with that privilege. Just as we have a responibility to the planet:ie Global warming.

I think being a good neighbor and citizen is important. I extend, whenever I can, a helping hand to an out-reached one...

Now it's your turn and feel free to add, modify, as things come up.

LOL, I was wondering if you wanted us to debate your morals and ideals.

What is important to me is the happiness of my family...what ever it takes.

Deep, very deep. I think I need to go to a confession and I am not religious. Try to spend quality time with wife, child and family. I donate money to needy charities. Spend time as volunteer fireman. Give blood to the Red Cross. Be productive in the hood.

What is important to me....

Being the best that I can be, in every facet of my life.... I know I come off sometimes as a cocky kid who has no cares in the world but yea that is true sometimes but not entirely..... My family is the most important thing to me in this world, I am very driven and "success"(however you may define the word) is important as well.. to me success is being the best son/student/individual that i can be at this point, one day I hope it will be to be the best husband/father I can be, my father has done an amazing job being an example and that is one of the things that I am most greatful for....

Throughout highschool I spent all four of my SpringBreaks in Mexico at an orpanhage and to see those kids be happy for hours just to sit and talk to somebody who cares is truly an amazing experience one that i will truly cherish forever...

aight thats enough from the world of Clay for now....

I would say family is most important to me. I always want to be able to provide for my wife and my future family.

I agree with Todd....my family at all cost....and I also agree with Allan as I think we need Global Warming as I am freezing my ass off!

Just trying to jerk your chain Allan!
Actually, you'd probably end up a lot colder, and suffer many more droughts....Enjoy it while you can....

BTW, on this subject, not sure if many of you heard about the film screened at Sundance last week "An Inconvenient Truth", but I went to the filming of that last fall to see President Gore do his presentation...;-)

It's important I live life to the fullest...i.e. Making good grades, loving my g/f, making my parents proud, etc.

My wife is the single most important thing to me...second, is honesty - both from me and to me...lots of things can be dealt with if you're honest.

There's a lot that's important to me. The most important is being honest and true about me. There's not much I can do from my own heart until I know what my own heart is. Then there's the well being of others, not only my family but all those who open their hearts to me.

The best way I can show my respect to anyone is to learn as much about them as I can. I do the same with religion. The best way I find that I can worship religion, since I will not say which religion is the right one, is to learn as much as I can about them all. What better compliment could one recieve?
