I am not sure I understand the numbering method that Romeo & Juliet, Montecristos and other use. For example, there is the Monte No. 1 and No.2 and No.3, etc. It seems to me that each number is a specific shape and ring gauge but may be available in different lengths. The ring gauge and shape will always remain the same for the same number. Is that correct?

Also, the blend will vary from one number to another. Is that correct.

Thanks for answering this newbie question.

Bruce.

Don't the different Montes have different wrappers?

you should find this enlightening

http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/

study this and be prepared for a lengthy pop quiz.....................

certainly the blend for the #2 is different from the #5,which is different from #1,#2 and #3,which are the same.

Got it?

A lot of cigars have the same filler/binder but have different sizes while others will add the dimension of the outside wrapper and change the taste. The smaller the RG on any cigar is going to change the profile because it will come into play while the larger RG size will diminish the wrapper taste. Vitolas are what the consumer tends to like in the actual size...I like churchills while others like a lancero...most are the same tobacco in the general sense of the term when we see a cigar that has maybe 6 different sizes....it's just preference much like having whiskey neat...with two ice cubes...mixed with branch water, etc. Some think that every single Cohiba has a different tobacco mix...Espys, I, II, III, IV, V...etc......

Nacho Daddy, thanks for the link. I will study it well so I don't screw up the pop quiz.

Cigary43, thanks for the info but I think I'm more confused now?? Maybe that's the master plan of Habanos, to keep us guessing.

Nah....it's pretty easy. Think of it as having your favorite with it coming in different sizes...that's it.

The whole idea of a cuban cigar marque is to have a continuity of flavor across the line. The different vitolas across the line will differ slightly because of size differences, but the core flavors will be very similar
Having said that,a few cigars stand out from their brands,Behike and RyJ Cazadores coming to mind. Both are stronger than their siblings,as are those Regional sticks made for the Asian market...
I find them too strong for my taste, and not particularly faithful to their marques.......

It is accepted that the Siglo line of Cohiba is milder than the core line.I have tried most of the Cohiba sticks, and find this to be generally true, but Cuba is Cuba, and sometimes you may get a Siglo that will surprise you.......or a robusto that is a little weak.
