Howdy Y'all,

I LOVE fishing and wanted to share a couple of pictures with other fishing enthusiasts in the forum. The picture on the left was my first catch of the season (April or May, can't remember) -- it was a chunky 6.5-pound Pickerel that just missed the Master Angler designation by about 1/2 an inch. The other is a catfish I was too chicken to weigh (its actually super small compared to the average monster-size fish a lot of people catch).

What kind of fish do you like to fish for in your neck of the woods? What are your favorite baits? For the two fish pictured I used night crawlers (pickerel) and head-on rotten shrimp (catfish). Neither bait are my favorite (they are actually my least favorite), but my go-to fishing guru at Cabela's has never been wrong and I don't dare mess with that good karma.

Please feel free to share pictures and stories :)

I love ocean fishing in the Sea Of Cortez. I used to go every year, but not lately, as there is too much going on there at the moment. Dorado (Mahi Mahi) is my favorite catch. Love the way they fight, leap, and change colors. Not to mention the great filets :). The best spot I've been to is the area off the coast of Loreto, near Isla Coronado. Punta Chivato has been good to me as well, but it's remote. The last time I was there, I befriended a huge pelican. He wasn't afraid of any of us, including my buddy's Dalmation. He hung around for two days, off and on.

Love to go, haven't been nearly enough the last few years. When I was in high school I lived across the street from a farm and had access to a handful of ponds. I could go whenever I wanted as it was a 10-15 minute walk. Miss that! Been a few times this year with my son. He enjoys it, but has a short attention span. It's getting cooler now, but may have to dust off the gear and go this weekend.

My favorite is getting ready to start up.... steelhead trout season is right around the corner. For bait, I use minnows and maggots most. I like to bait fish rather than use lures or fly fish for them. I also tie my own jigs and love that feeling of catching one on my jig and maggot combo!

I wouldn't say that I love fishing, but I do enjoy it. My father, myself and my 5 year old son are hitting Lake Barkley in Kentucky this weekend and part of next. We usually fish for panfish like bluegill, but do hit the bass and catfish on occasion. Will let you all know how it goes next week.

Lots of opportunities for fishing in Florida. My dad started taking me fishing when I was old enough to hold a rod, lol.
Here are some recent pictures.

Offshore: We target dolphin, cobia, kingfish and wahoo. Tuna are too far out of this area, 100+miles by boat.
Inshore: primarily redfish, trout, black drum, snook, flounder and tarpon.
Freshwater: bass, speckled perch and occasionally catfish.

Don't forget lobster, scallops, shrimp and oysters.. all can be harvested in Florida during certain times of the year.
We do a lot of fishing down here ;)

^^ wow those are some monsters!

So I love LOVE to go fishing.

Deep Sea, Shore, Salt Fresh you name it.
I primarily just go out and dunk a lure in the water and call it fishing.
But when I am serious, I go bass fishing on lakes, and for Striped bass in the ocean!

My kids caught some sea robbins this past August and we all had a blast doing it , using calimari chunks.

Another cigar loving/angler over here! Being in the midwest I've never done ocean fishing (on my bucket list) but I do a lot of freshwater. Walleye in the spring, Largemouth and panfish in the summer, and in the fall we try for Muskie (notice I said "try"). My dad and I plan to hit Lake St.Clair this fall. Hopefully break our losing streak!

Love fishing. Specifically kayak fishing for reds, snook and trout in the Indian River Lagoon and Mosquito Lagoon on the Space Coast of Florida. We are in the midst of a serious algae bloom down here and the fishing has been really bad for the last two months. Hopefully it will clear up soon as the weather gets cooler. With any luck the die off won't be too bad, other wise I will have to switch to surf fishing until things get better. Nothing more relaxing than launching at dawn, lighting up a nice cigar and just drift fishing for hours.

Zama, I've got two kayaks and fish the NMZ, ML and IRL frequently. We should schedule a trip soon.
Are you planning on fishing the hunt for reds tournament this month?
