I beat you all May '08 :)
So, Football season is over. Oh what a 3 months its been. I'm sure ya'll have loved every second of it. So time to catch up. What have I missed. I'm still trying to catch up on all the grading and what not that goes with the teaching part of my job, but I'll be around a little over the next couple months. Just don't have time to search the threads.
So ok, here's what has happened with me. First, the big news. My 8th grade football team went undefeated and won the city championship!!!! It was a feat, too. Won it 8-7 against the best Jr. High QB I've ever seen. Dropping the ball in between my LBs and Safety at 30 yds +. It's to be expected if you know who the kid's dad is, though. His dad is the Texas High School Coach of the Year 2 years ago (that's a big deal down here in Texas). Most of my kids will play for him next year, too, so it must have been weird for him to watch the game. Anywho, I'm ridiculously proud of my 8th graders. They works incredibly hard to accomplish this. We are the 2nd or 3rd smallest school in the city, and a couple of schools have twice as many kids as we do. Are kids have to play both ways at most positions, but we had kids stepping in all year with injuries and whatnot without a hitch.
Next on deck... In the process of buying a house. Haven't finalized it, but it's pretty much a done deal. Smaller house, only 1450 sq ft, but in addition to having a attached 2 car garage, it also has a detached 600 sq ft garage that will be turned into an entertainment area. Pretty excited about that one, too.
Smaller, yet still pretty big notes...
I've lost 25 pounds in the last 6 months. Back to wearing close I haven't worn since my sophomore year in college, 10 years ago. Running 2 miles every Sat, eating right, still playing as many sports as will fit in my schedule. Feels good to have more energy! It's caused most of my back problems to clear up, too.
Some of you knew I had some issues with my principal. His moral decisions were questionable at best on some things and at times he had it out for me. He was "asked" to move to another school just before we started the school year. We've got an interim principal at the moment, but will be looking for a new one in the spring.
That's about it. I've only smoked 5-6 sticks in the last 3 months, which sucks, but I'll make up for it in the summer like I always do.
Now time to sign up for Secret Santa!
