I mean there are a number of large suppliers on Cigar Inspector. Each one could be supplying counterfeit cigars, so why not push for legal action. Or are these "suppliers" really selling authentic cigars and Habanos just looks the other way to ensure they maintain the revenue stream.

Well if you read the reviews, some look like they supply "fake" cigars. If so, wouldn't Habanos want to crack down on them.

think about the amount of DVD and software piracy going on in China right now - the studios and software compaines are just as pissed but maybe it's too much work to actually do something about it.

I don't think that's what he's asking Kc and Knicker. He's asking why they don't crack down or pursue legal action against counterfeiters like the music industry does against piraters.

Its probably because it would just be a never ending battle and the cigar shops don't have a endless supply of money like some other industries do.

he asked us if the websites reviewed on cigarinspector peddle fakes or are they legitimate and habanos just lets it slide.

No, the way I read it is he is saying any of them could be, but because many don't and sell to the U.S. they don't ruffle feathers trying to weed out the fake ones by going after "fake" suppliers. Could've used a better choice of words possibly. If it were someone that has been a member for a shorter amount of time, and hadn't given me the info he has I would agree with you Knicker.

HSA is just a company, and not a very big one really. They have no power to "crack down" on anything. All they can do (and what they've been trying to do in recent years) is stop the so-called "grey market" from getting authentic cigars, on the supply end. As to counterfeits, there is really not much they can do about it.

Now if the US owned Cuba, it would be a different story.

Buy em I say! lol. I don't really care either way, fake, not fake, or otherwise. Plenty of tasty smokes outside of Cuban

I was going more in this direction. Was not looking for sources (even though trusted sources are always welcome as my current 2 suppliers are out of Sir Winston's). Just wondering why nobody goes after all the fake suppliers. I recently read an article that indicated 90% of Cubans sold online were fakes. This equates to a significant amount of $. The number seamed staggering, so I was doing some research. I haven't come across any articles indicating any legal action against counterfeit suppliers. So I thought a post might prompt some info I had not come across.

I read that article as well and it was utter crap. The guys on the boards Are more qualified to write an article of that nature than the guy who wrote it. Word of advice if you want info about cigars and what's fact hang around the boards and learn. If you want sources get to know some guys and ask in private. It's frowned upon to ask in a public post.

You may not think that you came off that way but upon reading your post my first thought was here's a guy looking to verify sources. Apparently I.'m Not the only one who thought that.

Wow....what a turnaround for those who are able to read minds or know what somebody means because "they know"....I read the thread and while I am a pretty true cynic when it comes to things and the question does deserve an answer w/o impugning the member...unless of course you are a mind reader and can divine peoples thoughts which begs the question as to why you aren't at the track or Vegas...I digress here. Being able to "guaranty" your opinion is something that demands a more thorough answer James/Jayro...if the member is fraudulently asking something that goes against the rules here then by all means share the information so as to enlighten this member or future members. If you can't then at least give the Poster the benefit of the doubt by trying to be helpful enough to answer the question? Habanos is trying to deal with this element of people who copy but as one other member said it's almost a impossible because Habanos is one of the most copied products in the industry which means people want to scam others...just part of living in this wonderful world and cigars aren't the only product that isn't copied.

In the future let's try to be a bit more gentlemanly when answering threads w/o them going straight into the toilet with supposition or "feelings" that somebody is here to somehow get info...if anybody has real time info that a member is doing something wrong...then "out them" immediately with proven accusation else the finger you use to point with will have 4 others pointing right back at yourself.

Very true cigary43, I shouldn't have said I guarantee that he wasn't asking that, should've said IMO. That being said, in a private discussion a couple months back Jd had a conversation with me about several online "dealers" and which ones would probably be best to stay away from. Guess I overreacted, but it is what it is. My appologies

I am pretty familiar with at least two of the vendors on CI, and am completely confident in the leigitimacy of what they sell. MHO.
