I go outside this morning to mow the lawn and my lawnmower is missing. I call everyone I know to see if, by chance, someone borrowed it. My friends don't usually take things without asking, but I wanted to be sure before I reported it. Why would someone steal my lawnmower? It was a push mower. I should have seen it coming. A couple of months ago someone stole my gas cans. Not really a big deal, but my lawnmower?:cursing: Luckily, I'm the type of person who keeps all literature that comes with everything I buy. Serial number included. If someone pawns it, the officer said they can track the serial number in most cases. In the grand scheme of things, it's not really that big of a deal. But, it just pisses me off.

If you are going to risk jail make sure its over something good. I had a little red plastic chair that my grandson used go missing from my yard a few weeks ago. I'm still scratch my head over why someone would take a little red chair?

That might be true but it is some thing you bought with money you worked for. It's sad but in today's economy people seem to be steal more of whats not theirs to pawn or sell for money. I used to never lock the gate to my yard, but since one of the neighbors had a riding lawnmower and a push mower stolen I now lock the gate an updated my flood lights. The crazy part is neither of them ran and the riding mower was missing an engine.

Baldanders I would check the next door neighbors with teenagers. I could see a bunch of drunk teenagers doing that.

Thats messed up. Its probably kids I work at a private country club and kids stole our trash cart to take joy riding and dump out on a back road once it ran outta gas. Good luck on getting your mower back.

That sucks. I too added locks and bettered my motion light after 2 of my neighbors woke up one morning to their tahoes on blocks. It's a pita but worth some peace of mind.

That sucks! They just seem to be stealing anything that's not nailed down these days.
Not necessarily. I left my wife sleeping outside in a lawn chaise yesterday and much to my chagrin when I went back out to wake her she was still there.

That was my first mower for the first couple years of being a home owner.

There was a story around here recently where a home owner updated to a new fridge, Nothing wrong with his old one so he put it on the curb and stuck a "Free" sign on it. Hoping someone would take it off his hands and he wouldn't have ot haul it to the dump.
It sat out there for 2 weeks.
He changed the sign to $50. It was gone on the second night.
