Fairly new Cigar lover. This is my first summer with cigars. I have a few humidors 125 count , 50 count & 20 count plus a few boxes I have purchased.

I read somewher (cant remember where) that a wine frig can be used to keep the sticks from getting above the 75 degree danger zone.

I purchased a small wine frig for my office and have put my full humidors inside the frig (tight fit, but it fits) It has a temp setting at 64 degrees F is the highest I can set it.

What is your opinion of this situation?
Is that a good temp?
Is there a way to humidify the frig so I dont have to have the humidors to keep the humidity?

Thanks for any help I can get

Hey Dan, welcome to the board. Head over to the Introduction section and introduce yourself to the brothers when you get a chance.

Then check out the storage forum here:

There's an entire "wine cooler 101" thread that would be very helpful to you.

Cheers

read the wine cooler thread, but most importantly is whether or not you own a compressor cooled fridge or a thermoelectricly cooled fridge. You want the later of the two. A compressor driven model wil not stablize the humididty. Even the thermo versions take some time to get right, but once you do, they are great. MIne has been goin gstrong for roughly 2.5 years, and I love it.

Thanks for the direction to all. I do have a Thermo Electric. SO I'm good there. Just trying to figure out if I need to add additional fans for circulation?

64f is fine for cigars but if that's the highest you can set it, you may want to consider an external temp controller (info in the FAQ thread) so that the cooler doesn't have to run all the time to stay at that temp

I'll second that. I use one, and my unit only turns on every couple of days.

Also I use a couple of "OUST" fans. tough to find now, but they show up on ebay. a small computer fan will be good too, bt you don't want a steady running fan. you just want it to stir the air and stop, not create a constant airlflow over your cigars.
