This is a cross post from a Jeep forum that I'm on. Okie, the poster is a cop in Oklahoma. Clayton Oklahoma is a little town that we venture to for the purpose of 4wheeling. It has it's share of meth heads and speed labs in the woods nearby.

I was at a new conference the other day when I was speaking to a Pushmataha County Deputy. We got to talking about Clayton and their police department.... I was told that they are down to one officer, which by default is the chief of police and that the chief has a suspended driver's license and a municipal warrant for his arrest.... For some reason that doesn't surprise me about Clayton....

He also told me a story where the chief had a couple of people arrested in front of the library, for stealing internet......

apparently the library has Wi-Fi and they were "stealing" the signal in the parking lot.....

the Sheriff's Department "unarrested" the suspects....

does this shit happen anywhere else?

Clayton is about 30 miles south of me and yes this shit does happen elsewhere. When you get into this part of Oklahoma (the southeastern part) there are numerous things and goings on that would totally baffle a normal thinking guy. Once you've lived around here long enough, it still pisses ya off but you tend to get somewhat immune to it. This shit does happen elsewhere all of the time.

For instance...we have had a sheriff that later spent time in prison and then was later re-elected to sheriff again. Our former sheriff (different guy) is now spending the rest of his life in prison. Both of these guys I believe were greatly tied into the meth problem that plagues this part of the state. We haven't been notorious here for electing the most top notched law enforcement. I will say our current COP and Sheriff though are younger, pretty good guys and they have both made it their mission to clean up the local law enforcement as well as the perception people have of it.

It's just like all places though really.....there are the good parts and then there are the bad parts.

I've been to many Jeep trips to Clayton (including with Frank), and I gotta say that it's about the most back-water hick town I've ever been to. EVER.

But, the Calzones at the pizza place/video store are pretty tastey.
