Hey y'all. Had an idea and figured I'd start this thread. I know lots of us, myself included, sometimes raise a glass in celebration/honor/memory of people or events. Might be something we do surrounded by others, or something we do in a quiet moment of reflection by ourselves. Feel free to raise one up and post yours here.

To start us off...this one is for my grandfather. I know this isn't your brand, old man, but I could never abide Budweiser. Been over 20 years but I still miss you and I still feel you with me every time I cast a line, light the pit, crack a beer, see an old Chevy truck, or hear George Strait. Cheers!

This one is for those who have had a positive impact on my life, but for one reason or another, couldn't stay. I carry you within my heart and mind as I make my journey, because for a time you shared it with me. You are never forgotten and always remembered. Cheers.

A little while back, I learned that when I let down my guard and interact earnestly and genuinely with people, I can actually be a source of guidance, wisdom and positivity. Who woulda thunk it? Allowing myself to open up has led to me making an awesome new friend this year, and taught me that it's OK to not *always* be a jaded, grizzled grump who keeps to himself.

So, here is to old dogs learning new tricks...and to those who help teach them.

Carlos, You are a good man. Our life experiences jade us, make us brittle, really. Overcoming that is difficult. I am on the same journey.

Get another dog. more is better

This one is for the folks that have helped me along the way. Amazing how many different people have contributed to making me the person that I am today, and it still continues.

You'll always be there with me
Even if you're gone
You'll always have my love
Our memory will live on

Sorry this has nothing to do with raising a glass Carlos, but I just thought of something I thought I'd share.
After both my grandmothers and grandpa passed and I was kind of bummed that I never got to really tell them how much the time we spent together meant to me, and how much I loved them.
I decided I better act quick before I lost anyone else, so I decided the best thing to do was write my mom, remaining grandpa, and my uncle a letter.
Seemed like a better idea than talking to them in person, cuz I would for sure get all choked up and forget a lot of the moments that were engrained in my memory.
I sent off the letters and they were all so appreciative. My Uncle is the only one left, and when I call him he still thanks me for that letter.
Since then I have written all my best hometown buddies.
It just seems so important to let those who are part of your life story and who've made you who you are know what it means to you before they pass or you pass.
I think a lot of people forget or take time for granted, and then like in my case it can be to late.
Anyhoo, carry on....
