Does anyone else put off, or not smoke at all, a stick that you only have one (or one left) of? I have a few sticks...Viage Zombie, Summer Fest, C4...OpusX Shark, 2009 PerfecxionX Coffin, Tatuaje Drac, Behike 54 and others that I only have one of...so once it is gone...it is gone.

I just can never seem to find the appropriate time to smoke these...either that or I just can't bring myself to smoke it because, chances are, I will never get one again. I really would like to smoke them...but I...JUST...CAN'T...DO...IT! :timebomb:

If you never smoke it, you'll just never get full enjoyment out of it. It's nice to think about your stash and think, "I have some Behikes in the humi," etc. But after you've gotten some enjoyment out of looking at them in your stash, you've got to smoke your HTFs in my opinion.

Yup. I am so stingy with my sticks. I am realtively new to this hobby so most of my really nice sticks have been gifted (or bombed) to me. I know I won't get a chance to buy a 5-er or box of them without shelling out some real dough so I'm so picky about what and when I smoke them

The other problem with waiting too long is that you build it up in your mind to be a mindblowing smoke. Sometime it just isn't: it's aged too long, or it doesn't fit your taste like you thought it would, whatever. I don't want to set myself up for too much disappointment by hanging onto something forever and thinking it'll blow my mind.

I used to have this problem. I solved it by selling off my last few Franks, Boris, Tat Black CGs last year. Now anything that is a single is an endangered species.

Nope. Life is too short and there are way too many suprises. I don't want to be standing at the pearly gates explaining to St. Peter why I never smoked the cigars the good Lord made for me to enjoy. You young guys may laugh but you never know when that bus has your name on it. It is hard to enjoy a cigar just by gazing at it.

that is a very good way to look at it...I am just going to be sad when I smoke that "once in a lifetime" smoke that it will be gone...especially if I enjoy the hell out of it. But you have given me a new perspective and I will smoke them!

Used to to be there too. Now have swung full circle. If I won't smoke it within the next year then I gift it away. Getting down to the last one makes me rush even more as otherwise I feel like I am playing hockey cards with them and collecting to say I have it not to enjoy them.

When I buy an expensive smoke or an htf, I usually have in mind when it will be smoked. They are usually holiday smokes, vacation smokes are if I get together with cigar buddies. The ones I have smoked, I wind up waiting for the to be on sale somewhere or if a brother is offering a good price on a fiver here. The oldest smokes in my box now are some Padron anniversarys that are a little over a year old and they are on the slot for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I never smoke cigars... just look at them.
True statement .

The dilemma I most face is lack of time to smoke some of the stuff I have. Robustos, Coronas, and Petite Coronas are the vitolas I smoke the most of mostly because I can easily fit them into my afternoon, evening, whatever. I have stuff that I'd sure like to smoke, but haven't found the 3 or so hours in the day to set aside and enjoy it.

I do it lol
In fact Im doing it right now. Thing is its a lot because of my sinuses. I'm always kinda blocked and I know if I smoke one I will not get the full effect of it. I still taste cigars and enjoy them a great deal, but I know there's things I'm missing, a lot of the nuance especially. I need to get into the doc to get it taken care of. Once it is those Stick are gone lol.

So If I have more then one or they will make them again then sure Ill go at it, but if I only have one...like a few that I just got recently they will have to wait, if I can manage. They scream at me every time I open the humi though.

I do have a couple of HTF singles in the cooler. Not waiting on anything usually just grab what I'm in the mood for and if the mood is to try something new I'll fire up a single that I know will be the last one.

I only have one that I refuse to smoke and its a #9 Piggy that was my first gifted cigar and the only pig that I have ever seen in real life. Everything is is fair game.

No time to read the whole thread but in responce to the OP. I used to have a lot of collecor sticks. Well alot for me, to some just a handful.. For example a Doncarlos Shark, A sand Shark, Opus shark, a BBMF, Tat Franks, boris, and others. Well I fell on hard times, and was forced to sell them. Now I can say I had one of the rarest fuentes ever, but never smoked one. You could be hit by a truck on the way home tonight, and you collection ends up on Craigslist, your Dr may order you to stop smoking cigars, tragic flood destroys your stash, or fall on hard times and have to sell em. Now, for me, a special occasion could be tuesday night, or a friend wanted to smoke a cigar during halftime on Sunday. Doesn't matter pull a great cigar out and smoke it. I smoked my last Tat Frank last Wednesday, because the wife went out with friends and the kids were a sleep. No occasion except that I wanted a cigar. I say smoke em, you never kow what tomorrow brings.

Ok I read some more. Absolutley true, i saved my first Pardon 80th for over a year. I was so excited to have a $35 cigar in my humi that i just kept looing at it. I pulled it out for one of the Beach herfs and i was so dissapointed i just anted to get it over with. Not that it wasn't good, but i built it up in my mind so much , and when i realized it did not come with a happy ending or a back rub, I was let down. Also Waiting on that last tat Frank..I should have just let it age for 50 years, because they are no where near as good today as they were off the truck. for me anyway.
