The Edgestar temp thread thread prompted me to mention using wine fridges as storage to my wife randomly this afternoon. I wasn't even really thinking seriously of asking to get one, but I said, "You wouldn't want one of those in the house I guess."

Surprisingly, my wife is cool with it! I even mentioned that I might want to buy a few nice boxes around Christmas to fill it instead of getting the jar I'd been asking for.

The lesson I guess is ask and ye shall receive (maybe). Worth trying anyway. Now I'm off to do some research on this and will hopefully post pics here in a couple of months when I can move part of my stash into a wine fridge! Craigslist here I come...

Good luck to you on your hunt Chris.....I found my Vino 28 on Craiglist over a year ago and haven't looked back. Got some nice drawers for singles, and with room leftover for boxes. They make a damn nice humi IMO!

Sweet! Had a similar experience with my wife when I asked about putting cigar bands on the blades of the fan we put up on our deck. She was (surprisingly) cool with it. Be sure to post some pics when you're done!

Scored a non-working Avanti with a good seal for $75 just now! On our way to get it at 6pm. Today just got awesome.

Here's the Avanti we got today. It's actually the same model we have at my work for events. It's huge!

I'm only planning on humidifying one zone at the moment. Will that work ok, or is there significant air transfer between zones? Anyone know?

Still haven't cleaned it up, and it'll take a few weeks to get beads, hygros, cedar boxes, etc.

The thing actually works, it just doesn't cool. May do some research on repairing it later. But cooling isn't really an issue for me at the moment.
