So I know that gurkha fans are few and far between on here but I want to know has anyone ever smoked one of the His Majesty Reserves? I just was curious to see if anyone would pay 850 dollars for a single cigar.

I'm sure someone has, probably not here. You know what PT Barnum said. Plus there are people out there that buy the most expensive stuff simply because its the most expensive

Ok, I have a great deal of expensive hobbies, but 850.00 or even 750.00 for something that I "MIGHT" enjoy one time is just silly!

I know Mitch has had a few, that he won at a charity auction, where he paid less than $100 for 3 i think.. Said it smoked well, the infusion was not for him, and no he would not pay MSRP for it. But paying MSRP for a Gurkah is just not wise anyway. There are few if found on sale are worth it. It is just not worth sorting thru the trash to find the good ones.

I've read three reviews on the cigar, two of them are ones I trust, Brooks, and another guy. Both were about the same, in terms of opinion and how they burned. I did pick one up last year at a etailer, and I paid like 70 or so dollars for it. I smoked it on my anniversary while at the beach.

I have to say, I liked it. I didn't have the construction or burn problems as the above reviewers, nor did I have the burnt like taste. I don't usually smoke nor like infused cigars however I do like the gurkha, whether it be the grand reserve, plat, or royal, though I like the plat probably the best, well actually the art deco is my favorite.

At any rate, I would say if you want an idea or a good second to the HMR find a platinum reserve or even an art deco. The royal reserves for some reason just don't have the flavor. Not sure why but they pale in comparision to the deco and platinum. If you like those, then if, IF you can get a good deal on an HMR jump on it however they are far from worth it. I think they are so expensive because of the cognac used and how much, an entire bottle. I've had some of the louie cognac and that too is good but way over priced. Hope this helps.

But as it goes, what is really worth it. To me 800 bucks for a cigar is way too much but if 800 bucks was like 8 bucks to me then sure why not. Some people would think a 30 dollar cigar is way too much but for me it isn't. It all comes down to how much one has and is also willing to pay. Then again some would say your a chump for paying that much for a cigar. lol

Review time Torin, throw it up!!!

So your saving it for a extra, super duper special occasion?
Haha I'm not sure actually, I basically forgot about it. No one told me my first review was any good...then again I didn't have anything nice to say about the cigar. Don't know when I'll be posting another as it took me a year to post just one on here!

Ha! The thing that kills me is they make 75 boxes released every year and they sell out! I wish I had that stupid amount of money to blow 17 grand on a box of smokes just because I could.

Yeah you may want to smoke it, don't know it it would be the best cigar to age, but who knows. Not the same thing, especially after reading the review, but I stumbled across some "aged" Makers Marks and it was about the most awful thing I've ever smelled. It also doesn't help that it seems like they've been submerged in a whiskey bottle for a month.

ok so MSRP is $850 so like all other high priced Gurkhas does CI sell them for like $2.50?
Lol yeah, best place to get cheap Gurkas

I typically light up my HMRs to use them to light my '80s Dunhills, but to each his own.
Nice.
