I love LP9's...Question: Why do they smoke like a Christmas chimney when resting in my Stinky ashtray? I've been smoking them for years and they always do this. It doesn't bother me at all, but I'm curious. All other cigars produce a little string of smoke occassionally when lit and resting, but LP9's really pour it out. Anyone know?

I have no answer for this beyond unfounded speculation, but I too have found that all of the Liga Privadas put out a lot of ambient smoke when the cigar is idling in the ash tray!

I have made this comment countless times about the UC and the LP, I would love to know the answer as well... 1st day of the UC @ my local was a unbelievable cloud, 6 people were smoking an UC, but it looked like a 100 man marathon smoke out!

Been my experience as well. Only thing I can say is it must be either the tobacco they use or the rolling technique :dunno:.

I believe it has to do with their tobacco fermentation process.... maybe JD and chime in.

its to do with the type of cigar rolling technique being used... the entubado method ensures an even burn and creates a more firmly packed cigar which allows air to travel between all of the leaves, carrying more aromatics/flavors to the palate. DE employs a similar bunching method is called estrujado, one noted characterstic is a greater smoke output... and yes i did sleep at a holiday inn last night.

I wasn't aware that he used that technique as a lot of the non Cuban factories use a bookbinding or accordion technique. Man... I would find it hard to believe that the bunching technique would be the primary variable causing a greater amount of smoke output. Interesting! Thank you for sharing.

Its part of the experience, which I enjoy too, what amazes me is the stick does not burn fast, one would think it would the way it smolders

The only time it is an issue, is when you are around people who don't like cigar smoke a/k/a my mother-in-law. If I am going to smoke at a family picnic or outside party, I stay away from LP's if she is there. I love them so much, but I deal with enough of her bitching, I don't need to add to it.

JD made these like this so that God could smell the sweet smoke while we smoke them down here on Earth....

LP9 is my favorite smoke of all time ;)
