I used to feel the need after the yearly IPCPR to attempt to try the new cigars coming out. This year, I've settled down and have just limited myself to the three main manufacturer's I like and am trying their new releases.

The upside is that I am not disappointed very often as I am already a big fan of their current cigars.

I am gravitating to the same few brands on the NC side as well. I will try a new stick here and there, but I'm resisting the pressure to be constantly branching out.

Case in point, I haven't really enjoyed Padrons so far. Used to think I needed to keep going back the well to see what others see in them, now I just leave them for the rest to enjoy.

Same here about branching out. Trying to keep it cool and stick with the items I know I like...which is a lot actually.

After a few years I have a core of favorites, but I still like to try new stuff. I don't go crazy with it, but I buy some here and some there.

I typically buy singles of cigars i've never had before....5er's of stuff I know I like...Boxes of stuff I LOVE.....

I order alot of Samplers, because there are some many sticks out there, i'd like to taste as many as I can!

I have a core of favorites as well, and I'd say 90% of my buying is within those. But I'll try new stuff too ... love trying new stuff, actually. I find that over time, tastes change. I think that as our pallates improve we are able to enjoy things that we didn't care for before.

Case in point, I used to love the AB Tempus. Then for whatever reason they just didn't do it for me anymore, and I hadn't had more than 1 this year. But I had one yesterday, and DANG that was a great cigar! Now they are back on my radar and I'll be smoking them more often.

Being relatively new to premium cigars, I try to sample as much as possible. I normally buy ~5 singles a week from my local B&M, then if something catches my fancy, I'll pick up a 5er online. I've yet to purchase a full box of anything yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before that happens.

I have the advantage of going to the show - so I try darn near everything. For me though, the most exciting is the new brands. I already know for example that I'll enjoy a new Illusione or Tat - so it's a given. Finding something like the 7-20-4 or the Rubys completely makes my day though. Same with new lines like the elegencia, just not as exciting as a truly new cigar
