Christmas Music

my appreciation for the holiday tunes could be bell curved, starting at thanksgiving, and tapering off about mid-jan, with christmas itself obviously being the apex.

and for all those who find the chritmas spirit a bitter pill to swallow, may i recommend sloppy seconds, "lonely christmas" and "hooray for santa claus", and the vandals, "oi to the world"? if you really need to kick an elf. just saying. o)

I was trying to make a holiday point in chat yesterday that went wrong. I really hate how the stores have turned two of our best holidays into a money thing and not a holiday thing. Yea-yea bla bla I know jobs are hard to come by and all that but I guess I'm old fassion and hate to see two of the best family holidays smeared by ad campaigns and consumer spending. Lets enjoy the holiday as its intended and then we can spend spend spend and work work work.
Thanksgiving and then Christmas...How I like it!

I have gone the other way with Christmas music. I hunt for every parady Christmas song i can find. i bet i have 200 plus songs. it just makes it more fun.

My wife loves holidays... we decorate for all the major ones... but Christmas is by FAR her favorite... the whole Christmas village, etc. I like the traditional decor. I have a German smoker collection, and we do the German(AMERICAN) pickle tradition on the tree for me and my son. I have a German Christmas pyramid, too. I think I'm an old soul... so I like the old, tradtional type stuff.

She LOVES Christmas music, too... I don't let her start with it until the day after Thanksgiving. We have an entire HUGE CD folder/case full of discs. My favorites are the old Sinatra/Bing/etc. type stuff. I also love a disc that was a family tradition for her dad and his 6 siblings... Christmas on the Ponderosa! Obviously, it was a larger, black disc for them... but they copied it onto CD for us a few years back. It used to bug the crap out of my wife, but she's starting to appreciate it more, now.

Damn...wished I lived closer to you Frank. I relate to alot of the things you like and how you are with your family. We could deffinetly hang out together and have a good time I believe. That doesn't sound gay does it?

Love Christmas and also love Christmas music, especially when the kids sit at the piano with me and sing. We usually have Charlie Brown's Christmas music playing in the house for about a month straight. Nothing reminds me more of family than that.
