hello there i have a small cabinet humidor that i have received in the last 6 months which i love and use; it can hold about 14 boxes open on shelves and maybe about 6 closed on bottom. Issues is i need a better humidifier system than the current one i am using. i am using the crystal clear unscented kitty litter and a jelly jar.
i have three plates on the bottom filled with the litter and one plate w a little bit of it above that and the jelly jar is on top above cigars. i currently only have the top shelf filled w cigars and a few singles on the row below, im still working on getting it filled. The humidity level is at 65% right now and usually sits at 67% that only holds for a week, maybe two weeks if im lucky before i have to fill all the plates again. kitty litter lasts me about 3 months but have to monitor it everyday.
humidor has new seals on it so thats not a issue, i am trying to get a humidifier system where i dont have to fill it every week i dont know how many cubic feet it is so i dont know if a small unit like a cigar oasis will work or if i need a bigger one like the Cigar Oasis II Ultra-Deluxe or moist n air; or other units that r similar.
i know if i blow inside the humidor on both sides up and down it brings up the humidity by 1 or 2% and holds for a day or so if im low and need to recharge it; it will rise after blowing then go back down then i recharge the litter. Sorry this is so long just explaining whats been going on my question is would i be fine with a electrial humidifier thats good up to 8 cubic feet which is like for 200-300 cigars or do i need to buy the bigger unit for 300 to 3000 cigars. I listed 2 pictures of the humidor below, thank you for your time.

Its a nice looking unit.

I just recently bought a cabinet but have not recieved it yet. How ever I bought it from Avallo and they have their Accumonitor system That might work for you on this. You can control the himidty for where you want and its all on a system that will turn fans on and off as needed. You might want to look into this. Im sure Ron will chime in regarding this and he is a better source for this informatinon.

Also when talking with some guys about the cabinet I bought they told me to make sure if i dont have alot of cigars in it to put extra boxes in there even if they are empty. If you only have a few things on the top two shelves adding some more boxes might also help you out.

yes to this. more cigars stabilize RH. empty boxed will hold and stabilize RH. think about a chest freezer: if the power goes out and it's full, your steaks insulate each other, but if it is empty, you are gonna lose some chops! it's hard to get a stable reading when all you have is open air volume and nothing else.

thank you i have checked those out before from the recommendation from ron and i dont have enough for that system so im looking for something else. they do sound like they are a great system to have for humidification needs. i dont have any other boxes to put in there, but i still have my desktop humidor which is a 50 ct thats empty i could put it in there if it would help.

Go to your local b&m I'm sure they can hook you up with some empty boxes

I know you have already said otherwise, but are you SURE those sliding doors seal well? I have NEVER seen a cabinet that opens like that! (It looks cool, don't get me wrong...But it also looks like a potential wind tunnel!)

the cigar oasis ultra sells for about $175. An accumonitor EZ is $220. for $45, the difference is performance will be huge. Also, as you have more $, and if need be, you can add canisters and fans on to the Accumonitor.

Yup, was thinking that to. I would think a rubber flap type seal would be something to look into. it would need to slide onto the interior piece of glass and be oriented a ta right abgle compared to this pic, but worth it. Once I sealed al the gaps on my cabinet, my RH steadied out quick

it originally didnt have seals on the sliding doors when the guy bought it and it worked good for awhile but after a long time of having it he put rubber seals on the doors and it worked better for him than before. He owned it for a few years and he only used the green florist foam and he said he never had problems but he had it full of cigars though.
the rubber feels like mini weather stripping i stuck my finger in each trap it feels like a locking flap. he did cut out a small hole in the back to install a lamp fixture inside the humidor that i never use. i thought that because the hole was there that was why i am kinda of having a problem w humidity i covered it with tape and it got worst and didnt hold as long more like 2 or 3 days instead of a week and spiked up and down; i took the tape off again and it was more steady at 65% and didnt spike at all just only held for a week weird.
the accumonitor ez model its without the canisters do those just move air up and down like a fan? i though you need them for the humidification device to work correctly. sorry i just dont completely understand the unit. its probably what im going to end up with since im trying to fill the cabinet im just stretch thin right now on everything.
if someone bought me a lesser unit as a gift since im getting alot of cigars items for christmas such as the one mentioned before or a small 8 cubic feet unit, would that wk for a little bit till im able to get what i should be using the accumonitor?
