Does anyone know if EO brands and Ortega is still making these? If not, who is making them? I don't see them listed on EO's website and was looking at a box on Famous. They also don't list who is making them, only that Pepin created them. The boxes for these also no longer have the fancy artwork on them. Its been a while since I have had one but they were always good.
Has anyone had them lately in the new box and if so how do they compare? Any info is appreciated.

The boxes they show on their site are still very presentable boxes. Its not the nice painting ones they had prior but its not like buying a bundle of over stocks that just come in a cello brick. Still has the same band as the one I smoked a while ago and was delicious. You cant smoke a box, so why not save money on the packaging and pair that cigar with a drink.

are you sure the blend is the same as the fancy box ones? That confirmation is really the only thing holding me back but need to verify soon as have 20% off code with Famous that expires in a few days.

Hi All,

So this thread caught my eye as the Mi Barrio is pound for pound one of my favorite sticks. The ones from the original run are absolutely great right now, and are worth tracking down, and as far as the original boxes go, the artwork is great.

So a little bird at Famous mentioned the following to me today about the "Plain Box" Mi Barrios...

1. They are now exclusively at Famous.
2. The plainer box is totally to lower costs.
3. The little bird was unsure if these were from the original run or were newly made, but they were made by Pepin/same blend either way.

Food for thought.

thanks for the info and good to hear. Which size do you think shows off the blend best? I have only had the El Puro which I really liked but thinking about getting El Forro since its cheaper.

The El Forro is the best of the bunch IMO.

The Mi Barrio was a large-run LE. They made a certain amount, releasing a different size every year. Though limited, there were quite a few of them (think LA 100 Anos). The run is finished now, but they are not "discontinued" in the classic since, because it was started with a limit in mind.

I think Famous bought up all that was left, mostly 5-ers and some plain-boxes (the old artistic boxes are really cool, though, if you can find one).

BTW, this is a really great cigar! They were killer strong when the first came out--strongest leathery twang I've ever found in a stogie, really nice. They've mellowed a lot now as they've aged, but they're aging VERY well.

The Mi Barrio is up there with the El Centurian and the Padilla Miami 8&11 as being some of Pepin's very best aged cigars, imvho.

nice feedback, thanks. With the 20% off code from Famous these are $4.50 a cigar for box with free shipping. Seems like a no brainer and I will take a shot.

I've only had a couple Mi Barrio's but liked what I had. I do think the Padilla Miamis are outstanding with some age!
