Hey there guys,

I was given a box of old Astral cigars. Problem is they have been outside of a humidor for 2 years now. But the box was unopened and they were all inside cork topped glass tubes. The wrappers are undamaged and I know I can recondition them. Should I remove them from the tubes or leave them?

Bring the humidity up slowly. Unfortunatly they will never taste the way they once did. Once a cigar dries out to the point that the oils in the tobacco evaporate they are gone for good and astrals don't have much to start with. Good luck but don't get your hopes up.

Yeah I read some reviews, seemed pretty terrible. But I've never had an Astral so I thought, what the heck! The box is pretty atleast, it can be repurposed for something. :guitar:

I'd say toss 'em. Two years and they're goners.

True that you can take a long time and revive them to be "smokeable," but after two years, there are no essential oils left in that tobacco...... you may as well be smoking paper.

Sorry, brother. :(
I have a huge humidor so I'll just use these as an experiment. I have read that cigars are terrible after being out of a humidor for so long and I've read that they can be reconditioned and sometimes people don't know the difference. I'll leave them in there for 2 months and check back up on them in March or something, see how they are.

Worst that can happen is I have a good laugh and throw them all in the firepit.

I responded to an ad on my local craigslist for an unopened box of Diamond Crown Figurados about a year ago. The guy said he'd had them for about 4 years but when asked how they had been stored he said they had been 'properly' stored in his fridge for all of that time.
The price seemed to good to be true anyway. Pass...
