Spreadsheet Set Up

So I just made a spreadsheet of the cigars I had and realized that without me knowing, I have been sliding down not a slope, but Mountain. So, how do you guys have your sheets set up? Just looking for any pointers to make the most of it so it isnt a waste. Thanks

Spreadsheet ? What is this ancient way of tracking information you speak of ?

iPhone Stogie Rate app. Has all functionality to track what you have, what you smoked, value of your collections, search, labels, many other features. Wouldn't do any other way.

I'm a Boatswainsmate, so bare with me....we are talking spreadsheets here.
Mines pretty simple; it lists name, size, where/when purchased, taste notes, would I buy again, and tastes best with...
I thought about including price per stick, but thats data the wife needs not see...I enjoy a life with less grief, lol.
Dont understand what you mean by "sliding down a mountain"...can you please explain?

All information that I or the wife don't need to know. Buy what you like and smoke it...

This hobby has be referred to as "a slippery slope" for some of us the slope is steeper than others and as other have posted some of the slopes end in a fall.

For me cigars about relaxing and updating a speadsheet when I may smoke 20 to 50 cigars in a week would be way more work then am looking for. Searching for new stuff I want to try is more then enough work for me with this hobby.

I tried keeping a spreadsheet and stopped because just too much work to keep up. hated having to adjust it after every smoke. I try and keep a "mental spreadsheet" and about twice a year go and rotate my stock great when you find that hidden smoke you thought you were out of.

Thanks to all that have answered. I have a cigar journal that I keep for each stick I have. That way down the road I can look back and compare experiences etc... As for the inventory spreadsheet, which is more what I was asking about, sorry for not being clearer, I started it cause I have a 150 count cigar and since I am still starting out and had bought alot of samplers, I have alot of singles and I hated having to look through all them and have the humidor open while I did this. I dont smoke quite as much as others so updating the spreadsheet should not be as much of a hassle. I am just trying to figure out what the more experienced guys do for keeping track etc... Thanks again

I keep track of things like:

• purchase date (box code for CCs)
• location (i.e. which humidor or drawer is it in)
• my rating of the blend on a scale of 1 to 5
• a tag line (short phrase summarizing my assessment of the blend)
• shopping notes (who carries this stick, best price i've ever seen)

I also keep a smoking journal / smoking log in a separate spreadsheet.

I know you want spreadsheet advice but i did try humibase.com for 2 weeks. its pretty straight forward you just won't have a hardcopy.

Not sure why folks say that it takes a while to track cigars. As long as you have your collection populated, it takes few seconds to add a cigar and/or subtract a cigar. Obviously describing the experience will take longer depending on individual's style.
