I know this has been previously mentioned, but it never hurts to post it again.

If you are aging/resting Anejos in their factory cedar sheaths... check them out! After reading a thread about White dusty mold being present under some Anejo cedar wraps, I opened a sealed box of Anejo 46 that I had parked in the basement of the humidor. Every single cigar was sprinkled with the evil dust. None of the heads or feet were infected, so they wiped down easily with just a terry cloth towel. They are now naked in the box. I can't recall where I read the original warning, but a big THANK YOU to whomever posted it.

Always good to refresh information. After experiencing this I take all the cedar sleeves off all my cigars so I can see them.

I have read both threads and thought to myself... Isolated issues, or storage issues. Then tonight I checked mine. Out of a mostly full box of 46's there was 3 with slight mold. Dusted off easy. All cedar has been removed from the remaining.

You sure it wasn't plume. I found similar white dusting on some vintage PG's from '99. Luckily it was at a PG event, and talked with Kevork about it, and he confirmed it as plume, the shop manager did as well, and showed me online what the difference was between mold and plume...usually plume is white and can brush off.

T-squared: I may be wrong as I am really new to cigars, but from what I have read plume is evenly across the whole stick as mold is blotchy. I also think that plume is crystalline in appearance and dosent brush off as mold is fuzzy an brushes off easily. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, goin only from what I have read.

That's why I put a link at the end of my last post. There is a LOT of bad info I'm finding on everything from Cigar.com, Puff.com, and the likes of the Ask.com type sites... I got info from Kevork Garmirian, and have had similar discussions with other industry individuals... but I'll admit not to be an expert, and would definitely like to hear from some of our resident industry leaders like Steve and JD.

If it helps post pics of cigars you think have mold or plume and you will get quick answers. I have HF beads keeping my Hummi safe but the only cigars I have ever had mold on are Anjeo's that I had in long storage. Great to keep the newer and older guys informed.

Don't forget the ribbon also, I've had some sharks develop mold on the foot and underneath the ribbon after being buried in my humi for some time.

Dang it, now I have to go check all my Anejos, lol.

I've never had mold under a cedar sleeve, but I've heard other guys say they've seen it. I've seen mold on tubos plenty of times, though, so I check those regularly.

Thanks for the reminder. I checked my stash of Anejo's and did find two of them with mold. All of the cedar has now been removed.

Just checked an Anejo stick that was sent to me last week and this is what was hiding under the cedar wrapper:
Ouch... you should let the person know that sent that if you haven't already so they can check the rest of their sticks.
