I finally caught a lucky break and got a great deal on a shotgun using Gunbroker. It's a Remington 870 Express Magnum. It'll handle 2 3/4'' and 3'' shells and has a 28'' barrel. Two slight areas of surface rust but that's a commom problem for the express guns so I'm not worried. It'll be here Friday so I'll post some more pictures!

$210!

very nice! I just picked up an 870 express for Christmas as well. What's different about the magnum over the standard express model?

Actually, if I understand it correctly, I believe they are the same thing. Remington started naming them all Express Magnums after a certain date. The Express Super Magnums can handle 3 1/2'' shells (I think)

That looks like it is in great condition, especially given the price! Great pickup brother! The 870 is just the pump version of the 1100 I have so I can guarantee you will absolutely love shooting that gun. Plus they are such a fantastic design, they super easy to take apart and clean.

Yeah, when I told my dad about my purchase he said, "Why didn't you get an 1100?" I told him it was because I was short about $300 dollars haha

Yeah but the nice thing is the market is always active. If you clean up the rust you can resell it later on and there will be a buyers market. I scored my 1100 classic trap with custom trigger work and a full case of shells for $500. You just have to wait time for deals to come along if you eventually want to switch to semi-auto.

I want to do a tactical build with this so I'll be busy for a while. But eventually I'll start an AR-15 build :riflefire

EDIT: I take that back. My fiancee mentioned the other day that she wants her own gun so I'll probably start looking for a small handgun now...

My wife gave me an 870 as a wedding gift nearly 40 years ago. Still my favorite shotgun. I have a number of others, all semis, but it remains special to me. I've shot hundreds of pheasants over the years with that gun. Such great memories.

I spent 2 1/2 hours last night stripping the gun down, inspecting each part, soaking pieces in oil, and touching up spots with 0000 steel wool. Now the gun looks almost new!

I have an 18.5'' smooth bore barrel on it's way as well. I'll update the thread with pictures as my tactical shotgun build progresses
