Hey guys,

I'll be managing the social networks (Twitter & Facebook) for a Cigar Shop. I have some websites for resources, tips, quotes. And I'll need your help here!

Where can I find more quotes, tips, resources, news about cigars, and drinks? (Good resources) So i can use them.

Maybe tell us what you already know, and then what else you are looking for?

There are blogs out there with lots of info, going directly to manufacturer websites and a handful of forums like this with pretty much all the current cigar news being discussed.

I don't know but please realize that if you are constantly putting out too much info guys will block you. There have been several bad ones on Twitter and it just makes people angry. I think they used an automated system and one company spammed the same message over and over something insane like 60 times in 5 minutes.

Post some good quotes, good cigar info, events, and of course good cigar deals. Throw in the occasional picture and personal posts so people know you are real. We like interacting with shops. Just hate it when someone turns it into a spamming business machine.

Good luck!

Good advice. Just be a normal person on Twitter and it will go a lot further than just tweeting shop business. Can't tell you the number of shops I've visited solely because of a conversation with an owner/employee/customer on Twitter/forums.

Yea dont force it to push stuff out that doesnt need to be. And as was said, here is the best source I have found while learning stuff for myself
Thanks all for your help. I was thinking about that. No "buy from me" spam stuff...but quotes, news, questions to ask the customers and stuff...I started today and already got a customer by helping him out!

Good idea...answering a question to get 1 cigar? hmm
Well, sort of. More like throw a question or challenge out there. And then there is only one winner. The more you bring them into your shop, the more business you will have. Once they are in there, interact with them no matter how painful it may be.

Also, you could have a whiteboard and have trivia questions. The more a customer answers right, the bigger the discount. This does two things. It gets your customer more involved and educated, and it makes you look like a good guy. If they don't know the answer give it to them and that is where the discount stops. Maybe have five questions and if you answer the couple right you get a 2% discount, 4 and you get a 5% discount and all 5 and you get a 10% discount.

These are just ideas, take it for what it is. Good luck.
