Pretty consistently only 2 habanos each year, with I think one year at 3 if I'm reading the list correctly.

Obviously there are a ton of great NCs out there, but I call complete BS on only 2 Habanos.

Not that it matters, CA is entitled to their opinion, but I don't think it reflects well on Savona or Mott, and is a big reason why their name and brand doesn't carry any cache, at least as far as my dollars are concerned.

Unfortunately, just their association is a dilution to Hansell and Malt Advocate. I haven't read an issue since the merger and don't intend to pick one up.

Reminds me of a handful of B players (DS, MS, and GM) who decided to start something and have done well due to lack of appropriate competition. Sadly, I think those who could compete work in different fields. Much like politics but that is probably not an appropriate segue...

I do not agree with the lists but I do think there are plenty of cigars out there that are better then most CC's. If it came down to it, I would take Nicaraguan tobacco over cuban.

like wine, food, travel, automobiles, and fashion, cigars are a matter of individual taste. that said, maybe my general impression is wrong, but I would suspect that the majority of the cigar-enthusiast community would not agree that Nic tobacco is > most CCs. to have a magazine that is so far out of touch with that community is the perfect fuel for accusations of advertising-conspiracy theories, and even without going so far as to introduce these theories at the least discredits the individuals behind the publication.

I think the team at CA have done a good job of selecting topics for lifestyle articles, but not much more.

Which top 10 do you like best?

I would go with 2010. Good mix of cigars with only one turd (although 2005 would be a close second).

With all the advertisements that Fuente and Padron put up in their magazines, online and big smokes, I know exactly why they are in there. Even though I believe those two can produce a smoke on their own that could be in the top 10 every year, its a littlle extra.

As far as Ashton goes, I thought I heard awhile back whenever I was working at the cigar store that Marvin owned a small percentage of Ashton or something like that. That has always explained to me why there is at least 2 Ashton's in every years 25.

IN just About every year there is
1 Ashton
1 Padron
1 Fuente

And it seem that lfd/Olivia are taking turns w a cigar in the top 10!

My whole take on it, is that I know they do not every really give reviews for HTF NC's, like store exclusives and once a year releases and stuff like that. Do not know why, but it seems there is never a Tat store release, Monster, or anything like that.

So without getting to smoke some of the more rare and HTF stuff I do not believe their list is 100% accurate. Not to mention that for some reason they do not give Liga Privada the due credit.

So whenever I look at their top 10 and I do not see a Liga, Limited Tat, Limited Viaje, Anejo Shark or Pepin product, I do not believe your list is accurate with it's title.

I would shit myself if I found out I only smoked and inch of a Behike, put it down and then started smoking a Rocky Patel Edge. Believe after I found that out, I would siphon through the ashtray and relight that bastard.

Smoking an inch of a cigar to do a review is the biggest load of horse shit ever.

It looks like that actually smoke more than an inch in 2010.
