I have purchased two boxes of cigars. But I do not have any humidors or coolers as I am temporarily in the States. I am leaving the country in 12 days. What is your suggestion for storing the boxes ? I will tear the seals as I want to inspect them just in case that in return cigars will not be sealed anymore.

Is that OK if I buy a zip-seal plastic bag and throw a Boveda pack in the bag ? Is that enough for two boxes ? I just need a quick solution that could last like 12-13 days.

I am in DC right now. Room temp is around 71-72. You mean first I should put the boxes in a zip-seal bag with the Bovada pack and put this bag inside another one, right ?

yup, boveda and zipper bags work well in a pinch, and yes to double bags!
lab tests on LDPE (i.e. ziplock bags) show that the reduction in transfer is exponential as the number of layers (aka bags) used increases. at two bags, the restriction is about double, but when you add a third bag, the reduction in transfer is more than triple - it gets further exaggerated as the bag count increases. the "buffer" concept doesn't really hold, but the incremental layers theory works like a dream.

What about the number of Boveda packs for two boxes. Is single pack enough ?
if you already have more than one, use more. one will work but it only holds for so long. the ziplock bags will allow transfer, so the more the better for duration, but if it is just a short period, one should suffice.

edit... just saw 12 days. one should be fine. double bags should be good.

if you bought them at a B&M, ask them for plastic sealable bags - 10:1 they have 'em.

Yes. Just for 12-13 days only. But the seals will be torn as I will inspect them. I have placed my orders online. Can I find those bags at Giant or CVS ?

Get a big enough ziplock bag, one boveda and a straw from McDonalds, suck all the air out of the bag, seal it and you will be good to go.

Goalee1, thank you for your kind offer. I started packing up and planning to place the boxes in my luggage. It was a long stay and takes time to put the things in order.

Zip lock bag and boveda will work fine. Carried three boxes wrapped in plastic and a damp towel for a month once. Don't over think it.

Another option is a smaller plastic storage box and bonieva packs. You sometime can pick up a plastic box at a dollar store for less than $5 and when you travel back the boxes will be more protected if you take them with you. Just a thought.

Yup Boveda packs and ziplock bags.

As the fellas above have suggested, when you're away from home, always double bag it at least. Better safe to be safe and overkill it.
