Ahhh... Not what you're thinking!

Some time ago I went from being an occasional cigar smoker to purchasing my first 100ct humidor as my habit increased and the desire to be able to lay down some cigars became paramount.

I typically will try to buy 5 of the type I'm buying so that I can smoke 1 or 2, lay down a couple, and give 1 or two away to friends. My first purchase to set aside was Padron 64 maduros, and now I need some other suggestions.

I'm thinking of waiting for some LP 9s and 52s to become available or possibly the feral pigs, I'd like to leave some room for some AF 100th anniversary offerings, and a few illusions, My Father 1922 Bijous and Tatuaje TAAs.

Question is, if you had to start over due to some extreme circumstance, and you had a reasonable budget, how would you fill those first 100 slots?

Nasty question, I know. Thanks in advance for the kind answers.

I look forward to being part of the community...

Go fill out your profile. Spend some time looking around and getting to know everyone. Participate in the newbie sampler/trade.

The point is this should not be your first post. Take my advice the way you will.

Box of Tat J21 Reserva. Box of Dirty Rats. Box of H. Upmann #2. Box of Padron 2000 Maddy. The rest would be random singles and 5ers. That said...ilikefish has a valid point. My likes might not be your likes.

Always nice to post in the introduction thread but there is nothing wrong with his post. He didn't ask anyone for anything other then some ideas on what to buy.

Hmmm, I did fill out the profile, but didn't realize the information didn't save. Thanks for alerting me to that.

I've spent quite some time lurking and reading prior to joining and I never seem to tire of the passionate opinions people have about their favorites. I plan to try out many of them!

Cool, it is really something that I have found uber important on these boards. Post in the intro thread and let us know about you.

I would recommend the following

Ashton VSG's if you can find them
Tat TAA '11
MF Le Bijou 1922
RP Edge Maduro
Illusione anything from this line

Just to name a few. Welcome from Colorado.

Welcome.. Try going to the intro section and create a post there, telling us about yourself. I know it can be a little confusing, but the brothers on this site are top notch and always love to share info about their passion, Cigas.

As for what to fill your humidor up with, there are over 1400 brands worldwide. A cigar that I might like, you may not. I would try as many as you can, keeping track of what you like. Then make your purchases based on that.. Go into a store, but 2 cigars from several different brands, which will give you a fair sampling of the cigars.

Personally, love the stuff made my Pete (Havana Cellars), Dion's (illusione), Pad Anni lines, AJ Fernandez is making some great stuff (San Lotano Ovals) And many of the Island smokes. Good luck and hope that advice helps,.

My Father Le Bijou 1922
Tatuaje TAA 2011
Tatuaje Capa Especial
LFD Colorado Oscuro
DPG JJ Maduro
Padrons (Anything honesty, but 46, 64 or 26 Maduros are amazing.)
Liga Privada No. 9 or T52
Illusione Epernay
Ashton VSG

I could keep going, but 5 or so of each and you've got a great start with some of the other suggestions.

welcome to the club, and glad you came out from lurking and joined us!

if you have been lurking a while, i am sure you have seen the term "slippery slope", and that your "first" humidor may not be your last by a long shot. you have a good grounding right now, but unless you are totally in love with a line, or find a deal or a limited you cannot pass up, why rush into a box? tastes change, and sitting on a few fivers and slowly sampling your way through helps ensure that you wind up with a pile of your favorites in the end.

Only 100 slots? Had to start over? Reasonable budget? Cab of Illusione Epernay Le Elegance, a box of Opus X Perf. No 4, and 8 Hoyo Des Dieux.

i filled my first humidor with what i read about here. if i had to do it all over again, good question by the way, i would've been more systematic. i should have filled my first humidor with 5ers by region first, then by brand, wrapper, and size. i think this would have been a really good way to taste what was out there and to see what the differences were. i think i would've saved a ton of money this way and i probably would've been less manic about purchasing.

lists are a quick and easy way to get a good start. tasting whats popular is a good approach too. there's nothing wrong with following the herd every now and then. there are tons of online publications that list their top whatever cigars for 2011. halfwheel.com, what used to be smokingstogie.com and thecigarfeed.com, just put out an aggregate list for 2011. interesting twist.

by the way, great job on the site guys. love the content you all produce.
