Anyone ever had a cigar by a company called Nub?

Tried one last week and hated it. I felt like I was trying to suck a golfball through a garden hose and it tasted about the same! :barf:

Also, it was like $9! Big mistake.

I'm thinking maybe I just smoked it wrong or something. Hoping someone can chime in.

1) You overpaid

2) I like the Cameroon & the Maduro, but it's not like I stock them in my humi... I've never had too many draw issues with them though...

nub is a line made by oliva. really put the fireplug size out there. i have enjoyed them myself, but the size is awkward to me. and nine is high. comfortably 5ish retail, dependant on line, "size", and tax base where you are.

I usually pass on the Nub line. I have found that they burn hot. There are other short smokes that I prefer.

However, try some of Olivia's other lines. Many are fantastic.

Same as all the above, you over paid. Never had a draw issue, but never have had one that made me stop and take notice. They claim to only be the sweet spot of a cigar, I dont think they live up to that anyways.

If I was to guess... I would say you probably got an over-humidified stick. Give another a shot... They're not world beaters, but they aren't to shabby, & better than no cigar IMO.

Maybe you didn't cut enough off? I have nubs regularly and usually don't have an issue. I like the Cameroon and Maduro lines as well. And also the new Nub Dub is pretty good.

Thanks guys! I will give them another shot. I will let them sit in my humidor for a couple weeks before I light one up. Also, I might find a different store to shop at. I knew that place was overpriced....

I am not sure why Nubs are purchased, when Oliva makes a HUGE number of cigars that are (IMHO) far superior in every way...

Yeah for that price you definitely overpaid. If it was at a B&M then maybe taxes or overhead pushed the price up, but $5-6 is about right. From time to time you can find deals on them and I've seen them go for pretty cheap on auction sites. My favorite is the maduro followed by the habano. Your tastes may vary.

I usually pass on the Nub line. I have found that they burn hot. There are other short smokes that I prefer.
Just because they are shorter in length doesn't mean they're short smokes (in terms of time). They're large ring gauge takes longer to burn through which gives them burn times more in line with that of a robusto or toro. If you're burning through one in half an hour then you're smoking too fast which could be why they seem to burn hot.

Had a couple nubs, Habano is my favorite but haven't smoked one in a while just burned way to hot towards the end. Been said before you got to make sure you clip enough to get a good draw and IMO they smoke better at 65%rh than %70rh that most shops store at.

I have had a handful of their various types. Try them all (you can buy a sampler) and I'm sure you'll find one to suit your taste. I enjoyed the maduro. I don't like the torpedo nubs because I can never get a great draw. I also have enjoyed the Cain NUBs.

I am a fan of the nubs. The new Nub Dub is really good. Just like any other cigar, it comes down to what you like. Some people like Nub's some people don't. Try their Tubo line and see if the taste is any different for you

Not a fan at all, between the sizes and the blends, they are boring, and the vitolas are uncomfortable as hell to smoke. That said, I think they do serve one great purpose for new smokers. The NUBs pretty much have no evolution throughout the length of the smoke. In fact, that is pretty much the point. The thing is, each of the four NUB blends really represents a pretty stereotypical, straight forward, honest idea of what each of the four styles is. For instance, I think the Cameroon is a perfect way for a new smoker to familiarize themselves with the nutty, slight sweet flavors cameroon wrappers offer, much like the connecticut has a classic, smooth, creamy mild profile, the Habano is spicy and woody, the maduro chocolate and coffee, etc. They also aren't very expensive, so for a new smoker, like I said, they actually are a good tool for palate development, and familiarizing oneself with different styles of cigars.

I like the maduro nubs - also I've had golf buddies who really enjoy them, so I usually bring a couple along on golf outings.
