Brothers,

A buddy of mine, supposedly has some 4" Regalia Cabinet Cigars with Bands from WW2, that are wrapped in German paper packaging. He thinks there from WW2 because that's what he was told. Unfortunately that's all the info he or I has.

Anyone know anything about these or a way to verify that the bands are actually from the WW2 era?

Thanks.

Either way a great collector's display of vintage cigars. I have some old ones around that time and they look almost the same as far as size and length.

Those bands looks really pristine for being so old?
That's what I thought also. Fortunately he didn't drop a lot a coin on them if they are fake.

If they're real, then it's pretty awesome. Evidently he found a website that shows the bands being a collectors item and valued at over a $1000! So he's super excited now. If they're genuine then he's a lucky SOB!!!

I'll get him to send me the link and I'll post it.

no info for you unfortunately, but i will ask the stupid question: what do they smoke like? o)
LOL! Not stupid at all. He actually DOES plan to try and re-hydrate one or two of the unbanded ones for about a month. Then, you guessed it, fire it up!! He's asked me to join him in this. So, I'll let you know.....:barf:

Wouldn't you like to know?
ok here goes. I have smoked a few german made WWII era cigars. Some how Gotham Cigar Museum had gotten in a few boxes and they made their way to ebay through them. If the retailer was them then have confidence that they are real. What they most likely are is the German equivilant to Clear Havanas. Chances are they were made using mostly if not all Cuban tobacco but were rolled in Germany instead of Cuba. This was a pretty common practice before the the revolution and embargo. Chances are they are not worth a whole lot. Standard pricing seems to be between $5 and $10 a stick for clear havanas and German history doesn't seem to drive up the price. Clear havanas are always a bit of a crap shoot as to how good they will smoke. My box of WWII era German cigars were ok at best but a friend of mine picked up a 100ct box of Robbie Burns with a 1920's tax stamp that were really quite impressive. Good luck with them and let us know how they smoke. Even if they aren't great I love the experience of smoking a cigar that old.

I agree with gibbleguts. I think the quote of $1000 is a bit high. Cigars like this come up on auction in Europe all the time and for short money.
I purchased a 50ct box of Jean Nicot UK rolled Cuban tobacco cigars from the 1920’s at auction last year for under $600 US

Smoked from the 20s 30s 40s and 50s. Its a crap shot with all vintages (clear Havanas)that are this old. Most of the time the storage for these cigars are all sub par. And as Aaron said most of the demand is not that high and pricing is subsequently low.

I could not have said it better myself.
In my case the 1920 Clear Havanas were a waste of money, but the pre -embargo A.R. Suarez y Co Triumfadores was money very well spent.
It's a roll of the dice.
