Brothers,

I have some boxes I've obtained over the years and am curious about them. Since joining I've heard terminology that makes me think I don't know half of what I thought I did. Going through some of my boxes I figured out that I don't know much about the following boxes. Please take a chance to review them and see if you can identify what they are.

Here is a box of Astral cigars, know which ones they are?

H. Upmann, any idea which ones?

Cuban Parejo, I have no idea who these guys are...any ideas?

Ramon Allones, which ones are they?

Montecristo, box says Afrique. Any ideas?

Ramon Allones, which ones are these?

Gispert, don't know anything about Gispert.

Davidoff, what am I looking at here?

Do I have anything special here? Just looking for any information you guys can give me about them. I know the Montecristo's taste wonderful, obviously the Ramon Allones do as well. Haven't tried the others. Sorry if some of these questions are no brainers...

Most of them I believe are general or altadis creations. Generally there is nothing wrong with them but wrong with them. The two exceptions would be the zino's made for davidoff in Honduras and the Perdomo Cuban parejos. Both of those are fairly cheap cigars but try them and if you enjoy them smoke them

Those Perdomo's are not too shabby for cheep sticks... my brothers in law seem to like 'em enough when they come by, so I keep some on hand.

It would appear that my humidor is full of medium to low grade cigars. I guess it's time I start branching out! I've never even tried any Liga Privada products. Time for a trip to the B&M....

Talk to a knowledgeable tobacconist and he can steer to some things you'd like! Tell him what you've tried and enjoyed and I'm sure he can broaden your horizons. Good luck with the journey.

I would try not think in terms of medium to low grade cigars. If you enjoy them that is the most important part. I would tho agree with the branching out theory. What you have is pretty main stream stuff an you may or may not enjoy some of the boutique brands talked about here. As long as you enjoy what you are smoking keep going. I think Steve Saka said it best when he said "if you make a cigar everyone will like, you are ultimately making a cigar no one will love..." Which is what a lot of the larger makers aim for is mass market appeal. Very little if nothing wrong with them but if you want something you enjoy more it may be something not every one likes. Try some different things and let us know where it takes you.

i would disagree with this: rather say that you have older noncubans. i do not believe the NC ramons are still in production, for example. that being said, there is no knowing until you smoke them!

like you go into your shelves, and say "all my videos are low grade" because you only have VHS. if you still have a good copy of chinatown, say, and a way to play it, nothing wrong with that, just not the "current trend".

smoke them, make up your own mind. if they have been kept well, you could find some gems!

I'm with gibble on this... If you like'em enjoy them who cares. If you grow out of them as your palate develops you can sell'em as yard gars.
Ditto. Just start smoking them to see if you like them. If you do, keep them. And like others said a trip to the B&M to try new stuff is always good. Find your own likes and focus on cigars in those areas.
