You light up a good cigar and someone comes over and just WON'T SHUT UP! Was about halfway through a San Lotano Habano when one of my girls' classmates mom came over to pick her up. Instead of just picking my daughter up and leaving she rattles off for another 30 minutes. Cigar ended up going out. There went that experience. WTF?

and, yes, interruption when you want down time is a kick in the junk, BUT you never know when a good conversation will pop up. hell, might have converted her to our side. o)

We like to tell other parents ahead of time when we are smoking - we invite them out on the porch. Some don't like it and others find it nice to have a porch where they can hang out with adults doing something other than hovering while the kiddos play

That's actually not a bad idea. She did call before, while I was smoking, and ask to pick my daughter up and that would've been my chance. I'm filing that'n away!
I guess it was one of those "you had to be there" moments. If it were just me and her it would've been fine, but with her came 4 other 8 and 9 year olds and they were hovering over us like buzzards to the point where it was uncomfortable. I didn't feel like blowing smoke in their faces so I just put it down.

I can totaly relate to this. I love my wife more than anything but even she knows I don't like to be bothered (Unless it's her or the kids) with ramblings while I'm relaxing and enjoying my cigar. I do in fact hate interuptions in my smoking time and only while I am in the company of brothers/sisters do I find this exceptable. That being said I do try and make my smoking time a time in the day when I know my family or others will not need me for some reason.
I have a neighbor across the street who does that. I sit out on the stoop with my dogs to relax and have a smoke and he comes out with his dog and walks over. So now on top of trying not to be rude and smoke while he's standing there, I have 200 lbs of Rottweiler and Lab trying to get at his beagle. Annoys the friggin' crap outta me. Next time I think I'll just continue to smoke and maybe he'll get the hint.
