So I was wondering if anyone here likes the sipping tequila's. I have recently tried my first "real", good tequila this past weekend ( El Conde Azul Anejo). It was oaky, a bit buttery, and all kinds of good ! Tasted like amber rum but with a nice tequila sweetness to it.
I have liked tequila since I started drinking, but only for "lets get bombed" night, wherein the grade of tequila didn't matter, so out came the cheapie stuff.

Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions other than the one I got a couple days ago of Don Julio 1942. I was told to definitely try that one.

all really good suggestions. If your looking for something good and also light on your wallet try El Jimador reposdado or the Blanco. It's definately not top shelf but it tastes much better than it's price tag.

These are a few of my favs, but the greatest and one of the most sought after is Clase Azul,......and even rarer is Clase Azul Extra Anejo. Very few stores carry this tequila but it is known as probably the best in Mexico if you ask serious tequila drinkers. But it all depends on what type of tequila you like. Some people are purists and love the pure cactus flavor of a tequila like Jose Cuervos Platino,.....some like just a touch of mellowing, oak, but also want much of the cactus flavor intact and go for something like Cazadores Reposado, or you can go to the extremes of oak aging and head for the vanilla, cinnamon, and mellowness of Clase Azul. If you like smoky scotch then I recommend Del Maguey single farm Mezcal- truly remarkable stuff.

Can't go wrong with any of these suggestions. I love tequila for sipping on, just bought a bottle of Tres Generaciones Anejo which had a good flavor and just a little bite. Also just bought a bottle of Avion Silver (the one from Entourage) which is probably one of the smoothest tequila i've ever tasted.

Also... I want to add Riazul Anejo is one of the most interesting spirits I've tried. I swear to you, the predominate flavor is coffeecake!

Ya that Avion silver is a smooth operator. The Anejo is also nice. The Don 1942 is tough to beat though for my taste preference.

I can't drink tequila anymore. Lost my virginity on it and then the last time I drank it I woke up in Idaho with no idea how I got there... Haven't drank it since and have no plans to. We used to drink Patron Silver because we thought it was the best, it surely wasn't so I have no recommendations.

That's hilarious, bro :). At least Washington is a neighbor state to Idaho. It would be very unsettling if you had woken up in Alabama :)

here
We do have a bottle of Gran Centanario Leeyenda here that I haven't cracked but heard great things about (it was a gift, when you get that from the bank you know you spent too much money)

I have not tried much tequila's as of late. But I did buy a bottle of Wild Shots Reposado and I love it smooth with good flavor. It is a mezcal so a cousin of tequila give that a try. If you do not like the oak flavor try the silver not aged as long.
