This list is based on production isnt it? There was no opinion involved, just a ranking of the top 20 craft breweries...

it is amazing how many good beers there are out there. San Diego has some great breweries, with more opening all the time. i'm so far behind the times... and i love beer! gotta catch up with all these!!

I do not know my ass from my elbow whenever it comes to craft beers, but I am pretty sure I have heard nothing but AMAZING things about Founders.

There are just too many amazing craft breweries in this day and age to make a honest list. Nobody has sampled every single craft brewery to make a perfect list. They need to have a very large input base such as BeerAdvocate to make rankings more credible to me. Redhook and Sam Adams did great things for the craft beer market but they should not be that high up IMO.

And realize, people... that definition of craft standing at 6million barrels... was lobbied for and changed for one brewery. I personally find it ridiculous. It was changed like a year or two ago... from 2million to 6million. I'll give you a hint which brewery went to the Craft Brewery Association to lobby for that change... look at total production from #1 to #2 on that list. #1 just surpassed 2million about a year or two...

Someone doesn't want to give up their "craft" denotation!

starbucks syndrome. we are better off for what sam adams' beers have done, but not for what they are relative to the beer scene. it's like a gateway drug to good beer, just as starbucks is a gateway drug to good coffee.

Sams may be the Acid to new smokers (intros) but I still drink Sam to this day! Love me some Bells and apparently others do as well!

Love Arrogant Bastard! There are a few I thought would be on there but weren't. I like Sams still and love when you're at a party that has an open bar and now Sams is considered mainstream and you get to drink as many as you want.

The guys in the Midwest don't mind that 3Floyds is not on this list. The longer it stays off lists like these, the better.
