iPad/Kindle notes?

There are tons of great apps for stuff like this on iPad. I'm sure once he gets it, he'll want to do more than that and the iPad will give him the flexibility to do whatever he wants.

It wasn't a discussing about iOS vs. Android. In fact, every device in my home runs some form of Android or Linux. However, I don't agree that there are any good Android tablets that would fit the needs of my Dad. He's used iPhones in the past and would be more accustomed to that OS.

There's no need to accuse anyone of being a fanboy or say they're blinding following anything. I don't own or have access to an iPad or Kindle (because, as stated, I only have Linux/Android devices) so I reached out to brothers who have more knowledge than myself.

OK, point noted. If my son who is 9 can figure out Android, which is not much different than ios, then I think your dad can too.

I was under the impression that the Kindle runs Android. Maybe I am mistaken.

And this is why you're an ass. Nobody insulted you for your device preference. To tell me and anyone that you've never met that they are blind sheep for their preference is immature and petty. I've played with Androids and Kindles. I don't like either more than I like similar Apple devices.

I would say that you should just do the iPad then. The Kindle is an Android device. If you were to consider it, then you probably should consider other Android tablets too. If he just wants it for reading (you said no mail or sync)..the Kindle probably is the better option. Cost wise...why buy an iPad just for reading?


I have a Toshiba Thrive...and love it. I think it is the best Android tablet out there. Not an Apple fan at all...but won't get into a war about which is better.

Also, with Apple - you never know what they are going to announce. If they announce the iPad2s or like the iPad Mini or something I will be legit annoyed.
