There are tons of great apps for stuff like this on iPad. I'm sure once he gets it, he'll want to do more than that and the iPad will give him the flexibility to do whatever he wants.
It wasn't a discussing about iOS vs. Android. In fact, every device in my home runs some form of Android or Linux. However, I don't agree that there are any good Android tablets that would fit the needs of my Dad. He's used iPhones in the past and would be more accustomed to that OS.Damn, sorry. Thought this was an open discussion. I will move along and let you guys talk about Apple.
If you wanted opinions, and that is what I gave, then you should accept them without conditions.
I was unaware I was being an Ass. I just can't stand Apple, and the blind following they have. To each his own I guess. Sorry again.
jim is right. you are an ass. There's no need to accuse anyone of being a fanboy or say they're blinding following anything. I don't own or have access to an iPad or Kindle (because, as stated, I only have Linux/Android devices) so I reached out to brothers who have more knowledge than myself.
I think you misread the quote. Think he was quoting OP on that one.jim is right. you are an ass.
This is fine, it's your preferenceI just can't stand Apple,

I would say that you should just do the iPad then. The Kindle is an Android device. If you were to consider it, then you probably should consider other Android tablets too. If he just wants it for reading (you said no mail or sync)..the Kindle probably is the better option. Cost wise...why buy an iPad just for reading? It wasn't a discussing about iOS vs. Android.
