I've looked through my humidor and don't see anything else. Is it possible that it has been contained on the floral foam itself?

Very possible but just remember that mold forms from very, very small spores. Just keep an eye on it for awhile and switch up your humidification device..

Looks like I was wrong. Tell me if this doesn't break your heart.

Any concerns with cutting the tips off and smoking them so they don't completely go to waste?

I have the vast majority of my sticks in cellophane. Looks like I'll put what I have left in some form of loose wrap to prevent future problems. Thanks for the help.

By the way, how did my first post on this board turn into an anal bead discussion?

They all eventually turn into that...

FWIW ...

I had that same made in China humidifier in a new/old humidor I bought. Neither one appeared to ever have been used. But before I did anything with that setup, I drilled a small hole in the back of the plastic humidifier and used a dental tool to pry the bottom section away from the top/sides, being careful not to crack the plastic. Threw out the foam, filled it with Cigar Mechanic beads, and sparingly used some super glue to seal it back together. Let it air a few days in case the super glue carried any fumes, and voila -- back in business, new and improved.

Although, I could see not wanting to use a humidifier that has had a mold issue in the past...

Not to make fun, but I would hardly lose sleep over some moldy RPs and Ghurkas. That being said, just wipe them down with a t-shirt, clip a lil off the foot and fire it up! We'd tell you to do the same with Fuente Anejos. Those are extremely prone to mold.
