Anyone carry a Walther PPK?

Right now I carry my Kimber Raptor Pro (1911) everywhere I go. However, now that it's getting warming I'm not always wearing something that suits such a large firearm.

As long as I'm standing up or walking around - even in a t-shirt and shorts/jeans, the gun is absolutely no issue. But when you're in a more casual setting such at a friend's house, the gun's large frame tends to flash easily (getting up from the couch, laying on the floor, etc.).

Anyone have experience with the Walther **? It seems like a good size for carrying when size is a concern. I'm open for other suggestions but I am not a fan of the Glock 26's (and similar models) frame thickness.

You might just need a better holster for your Kimber. Otherwise, take a look at something like the Walther PPS.

I only specified the PPK model because "P.P." by itself kept getting sensored in the title. I haven't really taken the time to see what the differences are in each model. Any specific pros/cons I should be aware of?

What problems were you having with your old Walther?

I have a Walther PPS I carry off duty and I love it. Easy to conceal and shoots great. I'd definitely recommend!

What problems were you having with your old Walther?

I hated disassembling it. It's a .380. It's a blowback, which means it's far less fun to shoot than a locking block 9mm. Don't like the mag release. Etc.

The PPS on the other hand is a slim, awesome 9mm.

This. So easy to conceal, especially with a good AIWB holster - it just disappears. The bore axis is low so shooting it is no sweat. Great little gun.

My dad carry's a Kimber Gold Match II every day. He owns a Walther ** and a PPK and never carrys them. They are convenient to put in the pocket but they arent the same. The 1911 has that intimidation factor and a .45ACP leaves a much bigger booboo than a .380. If you ever shot a **/PPK your hand will hurt so bad, it can pinch you right behind your thumb on the soft skin. I just don't like shooting them, but its fun to have them in your arsenal and if you really want you can carry them in your pocket.

I also have a PPS and highly recommend it. Very concealable and I haven't had any malfunctions with it.

Kahr PM40 with Crimson Trace laser. Thin and small. Lays flat against my hip quite well...

I went to Bass Pro after work and checked out their pocket guns. They only had the PPK available, which felt surprisingly good in my hand although I wasn't impressed with the overall quality. The guy behind the counter said the PPS hasn't been available for almost 2 years. Maybe I'll see if the local gun shop has any for me to look at.

I have the Walther PPQ and am extremely happy with it thus far. The action is smooth, the weight and grip are just right. This conceals really well with an IWB holster. For comparison I have carried the Sig 228 and SW 40. Of them all, I would go with the PPQ any day. It comes in both 9 and 40 as well.

The PPQ is a fantastic gun, but it's a full size service pistol. He's looking for something compact.

I don't suppose you have one of the early ones with the threaded barrel do you?

I've got a P/P, circa WWII, which is chambered in .32acp. It's ridden around in my pocket a few times, but mostly hangs out in the safe. Pretty fun to shoot, though.

No. No threads. And although it may be a little larger than the PPK/or PPS for the extra rounds, I think it conceals well.

The biggest part, is that I have had no issues firing it... As of yet.

I think he meant Bass Pro hasn't gotten them in a long time. A bunch of stores told me my Raptor Pro was like a 9 month wait list but I just called my local place and picked one up without any problems.
