Just recently acquired a taste for wine, and came across an awesome american wine. The one I original had was the Columbia Crest Cab-Sav 2008, but it is now sold out locally here in Ontario. They now have stock of the Merlot, which sells here for a nice $16 a bottle. The taste profile appears to be the same with dark fruits, and a very distinct Oak wood flavour. Absolutely amazing with the use of a aerator. Highly recommended, especially for the price range which Im sure can be had much cheaper for the US consumer.

Anyone else had a wine with a rich wood flavour in it they can recommend?

pillar box reserve, wolf blass grey label. I always shop in the reserve section for wines, they have some really great wines in the 15 to 20 dollar range. Try a Argentinean Melbec. had one on the weekend and it was great.... cost me 15 bucks

Do those have that pronounced wood flav im looking for. Listened to a couple ppl from the LCBO and they steered me towards wines that did not even closely fit that profile.

I found a similar tasting wine though not as full flavoured in the Ontario section.
Viewpointe Estate Winery Cabernet Merlot 2006 for about $13 a bottle. Not as full flavoured as the Columbia Crest though, which I'd pay the extra few dollars for.
