Poured my morning cup of coffee, lit up a cigarette and logged on to my email.
Message from BOA freezing my account due to irregular activity.
Logged on to BOA to check my account and low & behold someone got hold of my Visa number and charged
895.00 Euros at Apple-Store Luxemburg and another attempted charge of 565.00 at the MuseumInn in Austria.
Not quite the end of the world as Visa & BOA froze my account and I am not responsible for any charges.
Just a pain in the ass. Now I have to wait 5 days for a new card, change all my direct withdrawl for auto pay bills.
and wait for the charges to post on my account (24-48hrs) before I am reimbursed.
Fucking lowlife piece of shit's !

had someone buy something at a florist shop in london with mine. they were pretty quick in taking care of it, and since i went to the bank in person, they gave me a temporary card.

Pretty much all banks here in Sweden have the possibility to close your credit/debitcard for international charges/withdrawl from atm abroad and close it for payment online. Of course this is free of charge and you can open and close it as often as you want and it takes about 1-2 second for the bank to register this, all banks have apps for smartphones meaning I dont really care if you have my cc info. Unless it is open you can not charge it.

I have VISA cards but the same services excist for Mastercard.

This is great when trvelling, I open it at any store when I am about to purchase something and close it a second later :)

Is this not an option in the states?

Similar thing happened to me a couple years ago. They also purchased Apple products which threw me off at first, because so do I. I was thinking....Did I buy something???? Then I noticed the Malaysian airline tickets.

A couple years ago while in Dallas training for work, somebody got a hold of my credit card number and I got a call from some company to verify that I purchased $2,000 worth of servers to be shipped to China. I said no and thanks for calling me. I then called my CC company and reported it and then canceled my card and had a new one sent to me.

I carry an Amex as well. I have a sneeking feeling I know where this happened. I buy cigarette's from a company in the Ukraine. I trust them. I have used them for years. They recently changed CC processors. they accept
VISA ONLY. No Amex, NO Mastercard. I think thats where it got stolen.

I have a B of A debit card as well and have had my account 'hacked' into twice in the last 3 years. Each time it was resolved quickly with no funds of mine being locked up. I have "ALERTS" that I get everyday when my account is used..for anything so I'd suggest that anyone with any debit card to have an alert put on your account so you know what it going on everyday. Going to the bank in person expedites things pretty quickly and getting a temporary card is pretty easy and painless.

Someone got hold of my CC info once as well but MC and my bank caught the charges as the followed a pretty common pattern....authorize it for $1.00 a couple of times, then hit it with big charges. I didn't know about it until I got home from vaca and heard the messages on my answering machine. They wiped everything out, issued me a new card and expedited it to me. I'm now in the habit of checking all my accts every 2-3 days. No more problems since.

I went clubbing some time ago in San Francisco and had my wallet lifted. By the time I realized it and called it in that very night they had already purchased five suits from a local men's store, rented a limousine, and changed all my billing information to somewhere in the North Bay. These people are professionals luckily Discovercard was very understanding. They told me it's more common than most people think.
This all happened in the span of four hours.
